Awww bless her, best Xmas gift ever !
She been paired?
She has, with old man Wei. She’s my first! She really didn’t look very big when she went into hiding and I thought she might wait until spring to lay. Im preparing for lots of orange leg warmers to arrive soon. :)

ETA- I made the post to be funny, but I guess she was telling me she wanted water. Filled it up and she's drinking. Hah!

Rehousings done this weekend and the obligatory photos...

0.1 Phormingochilus sp. rufus, about 2.5" DLS:

0.1 Theraphosinae sp. Cusco, 1.5" DLS and getting some color:

1.0 Cyriopagopus sp. Valhalla, 4.25" DLS:
PC270003.JPG

And my gorgeous Olive, adult female Thrixopelma pruriens, who molted about 3 weeks ago and measures just over 5" DLS. She's feisty and doesn't appreciate being poked with a paintbrush, but she's extremely photogenic and I could take pics of her all day...

If you don't have this species, you need one, and if you do have a male, get in touch with me!

EVE Citharacanthus cyaneus female had this girl about 3 years think this is only the 4th time I have seen her out of her burrow.
Such a strange little t, still only 2 inches, extremely reclusive, very timid would rather ball up then bolt, won't take food unless I prekill it n put it in her face but glad to see her out n about 😊.
Really wish the cam would pick up her lilac sheen over that orange, just makes her look brown/beige on the pic 🤷🏻‍♀️.

They are awesome! I miss mine. So beautiful
I was told when I got my girl 3 years ago they were crazy but my little girl is so timid, there is no other way to describe her 😆. Her attitude just wasn't what I expected from descriptions from others.
Was yours timid?

I have a few ancient mature male tarantulas that are several years past maturity. One of them loves to sit in odd positions that scare me into thinking he's dead. Today Mowgli (P. ornata) was chilling at the base of his cork bark at an odd angle that looked like a partial death curl. Obviously I wanted to check on him and make sure he was okay. I gently cracked the lid of the enclosure and carefully prodded him with a paintbrush. He wasn't responding and I started feeling sad, thinking he'd finally given up the ghost. I was mistaken. He suddenly jumped forwards at lightning speed like a jack in the box and scared the crap out of me! He then sprinted around his enclosure before finding a new hiding spot. Even though he's an old guy now, he's still eating and doing quite well.
