I euthanized my Y diversepes with the sucking stomach issue tonight. I tried several methods over months with too small of successes. She was a fighter and even last night attacked prey. Tonight she was clearly not long for this world. Destroying her was one of the toughest things I’ve had to do in my half century.
Last pictures, taken minutes apart.

Not the best pic or angle (there's another smaller viv infront of hers n i knew if i mived it she'd bolt) but caught Lolanthe phormictopus sp Dominican purple saf out this morning 💜. She is probably one of my most shy t's she usually stays in her web hammock up the back (yes I have told her she isn't arboreal but 🤷🏻‍♀️,) nice to see her getting bolder after her recent moult 😊.

Lost my MM N. coloratovillosus overnight. He lasted way longer than I ever would have expected, just 3 months shy of 3 years post-molt. Now I've got a juvenile male B. emilia that's probably going to hook out on me since I'm fresh out of MMs.

Catching up on some much needed rehouses this week. Pictured are 24 of the planned 31 upgrades this week for:
  • 0.0.4 Avicularia geroldi
  • 0.0.3 Avicularia variegata
  • 0.0.2 Avicularia avicularia M2 (ex A. braunshauseni)
  • 0.0.3 Phormingochilus sp. Sabah Dwarf
  • 0.0.4 Omothymus sp. Langkawi
  • 0.0.1 Birupes simoroxigorum
  • 0.0.4 Cyriopagopus sp Kalimantan
  • 1.0 Hysterocrates sp Niger Delta
  • 1.0 Poecilotheria rufilata
  • 0.1 Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum
I'll likely have another 25 rehouses needed in late February or early March as the holdbacks from last year's eggsacks are about ready to upgrade from the sling racks as well. The work never ends with a large collection :) .

I'm just curious, but about how many animals do you have in your collection?

The broodstock, or specimens part of a breeding project and tracked with individual UID's is currently at 173.

In addition, I can have anywhere between 0 and 400 slings for sale/trade at any point in time, which require care and are tracked to a lesser degree. I believe I have 48 slings in this category currently, ±5 slings.

Checked another rehouse off this week's list.
20250124_113524.jpg
This is an almost 7 year old female Poecilotheria subfusca 'Lowland' that was imported as a sling a few months before their addition to the ESA in August of 2018. She's a little over 6 weeks post molt, has never been bred, and at last, there is a MM in the facility :) .

She was rehoused into a broodchamber and, after a meal or two once settled, the process for introducing the male will begin. 2025 begins in earnest for the facility lol.

Oh, and I don't think most people realize just how large and leggy this species can get given some time. Highland is practically a dwarf pokie, but mature lowland females can reach some impressive sizes.

Boy, she really used that vent in the old enclosure for target practice, huh? LOL...

Even on the pokie shelf, she stood apart for her abstract expressionism in the fecal medium :grumpy: ........

Hera Harpactira pulchripes af.
Never seen more then feet from this girl since she built her burrow 6 months ago, but last night not only did she turn her burrow entrance into a turret, I caught her on top of it adding sub 🥰
The purple circle is where her entrance was yesterday.

After about a year in my care she still never webbed but at least she's making some interesting constructions 😆. Love how she's included the plant to support the turret 😂.

A few rehouses today. Three out of five Gyuruita cerrado slings outgrew their vials. Then my Heterothele gabonensis, she's a stunning spider if I say so myself.

Took some bothering to get this girl to pose for exactly two shots.

Also got a juvenile Psalmopoeus victori so that there is continuity in the spider room when my MM goes on a date. No photos, as the rehouse was quite exciting.

I don't envy you.....that looks like a LOT of tedious work. It'll be worth it though!
One of the many benefits of standard enclosures is you can make templates to mark ventilation holes quickly and consistently. A drill press with specialized drill bits for plastic is also highly suggested when you're prepping enclosures at this scale lol.

I have A LOT of holes to drill now.......
First off n most important where did you get the clear tubs from ? I have been looking and can't find any, they are all cloudy.
Secondly, we both know that perfect vent holes are super satisfying 😌, bet once you've done it n they are all the same size and distance apart, you smile 😁. N not just because you've eventually done them all but because they are done right 😉.
Music on tools out n will be done in no time 😉😊.
