Two OW rehouses in the last few days. A very calm Harpactira pulchripes (who usually throws threat poses at everything, lol) and an Idiothele mira sling that wanted to run everywhere but into the new enclosure.

Aquired a juvenile GBB yesterday at the local expo. Prior to this i thought about how to setup her enclosure and while buying feeders from my local pet store, i looked around a bit and found a round piece of wood with holes, originally intended for small rodents as a hide/play opportunity and thought "i could use that vertically in the enclosure as a nice hideout/anchor point for a "semi-arboreal"" and used it along with some other stuff i already had to provide some anchor points more in the back of the enclosure, so that hopefully she wouldn´t set up camp right at the front lid:

And guess what...soon after putting her in her new enclosure, she found the "rodent hideout" and immediately started webbing there and is doing her circles around and through it :)

Edit: i just tried if she already would accept food...well, she did, and with a feeding response wich puts my geniculata to shame. Never seen a t react to a feeder at such a distance and actively stalking it instead of just waiting for the feeder to come closer.

Finally got my spider room set up after moving. Was definitely hard going from nice built-in's to plastic shelves. But it's decent enough.

Was home sick from work yesterday so I got some rehousings done.

All 4 of my Davus sp. Oaxaca slings/juveniles (female top left, male bottom right):

My penultimate(?) male Cyriopagopus sp. Valhalla, he's about 4.5" DLS:
PB130040.JPG

An unsexed Phormingochilus sp. Sabah red, a little over 2.75" DLS:
PB130033.JPG

My Theraphosidae sp. Colombia (female)
PB120018.JPG

And Theraphosidae sp. yasumi (male)
PB120004.JPG
are both growing quickly and posed for a pic.

Also confirmed my Phormingochilus sp. rufus is female:

And saw some good development in the spermathecae and uterus externus of my juvenile Pamphobeteus ultramarinus female, even though she'd chewed the exuvia up pretty thoroughly:

Not a bad sick day....

Rehoused my GBB, a. Geniculata and H. Sp Columbia. Out of those 3 the pumpkin patch gave me the hardest time by being stubborn and refused to move. It eventually went into the new enclosure.

Collected this guy from someone who was going out of the hobby. A lovely mature male A chalcodes, the largest T I have ever (temporarily) kept. He's on track to be a lucky bachelor for a friend out near Sacramento, so it's just been exchanging hands for now. Regardless, super cute, super docile!

probably won't happen today, but in the very near future, I'll be rehousing one of my OBTs, my V. chromatus and my GBB. Not too bad...

Took the time today for a long-overdue cleaning of the Dubia colony. I try to clean it out around every 4 months, but it had been almost twice that since the last time. They seem pretty healthy, though, and I only pulled out a handful of dead ones (mostly expired males and a couple older females). Lots of babies...
20241129_140949.jpg

A couple even molted in the temporary holding bin...
20241129_140110.jpg

Some of these females are BIG. I only have a handful of T's that are big enough to take an adult female Dubia, but my turtles love them.

Time to see who was out and feeling photogenic during the night check in the facility.

20241210_210518.jpg
0.0.1 Avicularia geroldi, recently molted and caught throwing it's old clothes away. These have kept pace with my A. variegata slings in overall growth, so these are likely going to be as equally impressive at full size. Now I just need to get good enough molts to sex my group of growouts....

20241210_205703.jpg
0.1 Aphonopelma gabeli. This one is a rapacious murder-tank with an impressive set of forward facing weaponry. Also, she's very prone to posing and not afraid of the brightest lights.

20241210_210920.jpg
0.0.1 Ornithoctoninae sp Phan Cay Red, one from a group of growouts for the future. It did molt within the past two weeks and is starting to get some of the adult coloration coming in. Has a ways to go still, but should be a pretty quick path to get there.

20241210_205902.jpg
0.1 Cyriopagopus sp Kalimantan. Saw this one available and it piqued my interest. In my search for information, I really only found some old AB posts circa 2011 referencing a confusion between what was believed to be Haplopelma doriae and Haplopelma sp Kalimantan. Sadly, there were no pictures left in the thread, so I'm not even sure if this is the same species imported as Haplopelma sp Kalimantan all those years ago. The abdomen pattern does resemble what's been imported as C. doriae IMHO, just lighter in color. I'm a bit anxious to see what she looks like freshly molted.

20241210_205447.jpg
0.1 Aphonopelma sp Dragoons. Got her as a miniscule unsexed sling in December of 2022 and she's packed on some impressive gains, being just shy of 1.5" DLS. This is a dwarf species, so at this rate she should be mature and able to reproduce in 2 more years or so. Reproducing these is a top goal and I've managed to line up several attempts over the next 3-4 years to really dial them in. That near success last time was just too bitter sweet.

My favourite spood came out of hiding today freshly moulted and now needing a rehouse, this is Peeved my Eratigena.
20241212_062905.jpg
Took this spood off my cat she wasn't large maybe 2cm dls and was leaking where the cat had gotten her knee and abdomen, I covered her in cornflour and set her up in her home 6 months later and she is probably pushing a good 2.5 inches and once again has shown why I love Eratigena and Tegenaria, look at that web lol 😆
20241212_062845.jpg
between that, the pattern and speed is why I truly love this genus . I couldn't be without one in my collection.
