Many WC fossorials take quite some time to settle in. It took my lividus 3 months to settle and burrow after a rehouse, and she was CB. Some of my doriae have yet to burrow 2 months after coming in. I don’t think it’s cause for worry just yet.
...I always had a smaller collection, more manageable to me this way, last year around spring however I was about to back off and sold my 0.1 C. lividus, 0.1 L.striatus and my two H. himalayana juvies eventually. Later became more open to the topic again, and purchased some newcomers (miranda...

I see, thank you.
Op also stated "young adult female" and "not mature yet" as well as having it only a month, but no information about where it came from or how they acquired it.
In any case, my theory has been debunked.
If its really an adult T as op stated, then it must be a gal since mature males look like this: https://arachnoboards.com/gallery/cyriopagopus-lividus-smith-1996-_7.62392/ or this
I didn’t even know old worlds could go bald 👨🦲, thanks for sharing!!! I’ve never had this happen before .. no not pre molt abdomen isn’t dark but is it eating ???
, stress maybe 🤔.:. I had no idea 🤷 this was possible.
Hello,
I noticed that my young adult female Cyriopagopus lividus had a bald abdomen. Is this a sign of premolt or stress?
I've had her for 1 month, she hasn't eaten but has dug a burrow about 6" deep. However, she spends a lot of time outside, often "stresscurl" in a corner.
Should I be worried...
P Metallica is very expensive in USA but dirt cheap in Asia . Similar trends for different species . Europe has better prices we often get price gouging here I’ve seen lp slings $35 each !!!
Alright, fair enough. I was making quite the jump there in your possible line of arguing, I admit lol.
In any case, the things you value in a species are pretty far off from what I'm looking for so it's just a matter of opinion. I've kept a wide variety of spiders over the years and right now...
...stay out and about, fairly hardy, eat well, no medically significant venom, not super defensive etc.
Almost none of the above applies to old world fossorials (like C lividus). It's not like you have to have a T with the personality of a cuddle bug parrot or C lividus and nothing in between.
P metallica is fast and skittish and packs medically significant venom. I been keeping Ts for over 5 years and I wouldn't even consider getting one. Just get an avic avic or C versicolor. Old world Ts don't make good pets for the vast majority of people.
Arboreal old world Ts make more sense...
I find this super interesting and can’t wait to find out if they indeed turn out the sexes you are suspecting. Also hope more chime in with their experiences, too. These guys are definitely one on my list and I’m always eager to learn more.
