Yes, but the fat in insects and mammals are not the same type of fats. It would be nice to see a scientific study on theraphosid spiders so all these speculations could end =) One reason for Theraphosa spp. molting problem could have something to do with their size. Many keepers feed them much...
There is no evidence that calcium is the cause of death, it is only a theory. I belive that it is wrong nutrients and fat that causes it. Many of the Therephosa spp. in the hobby are so overfed that their abdomens looks like tennisballs and i think it can cause problems with the "blood"...
What i mean is if the animal already is in very bad shape more stress can be the factor that kills it. Im going to try and find the pdf´s about stress in Theraphosids. All arachnids are sensetive to stress but i might be best if you read for your selve
DONT!!! An ICU could kill it. It is better to raise humidity in her own environment wich she is familiar and safe with. Moving her to another unfamiliar container could cause fatal stress.
Hobo: Pretty easy keeping the humidity up when you have 50% in your room =) Where i live we have about 20-30% so its a bit harder here to keep the humidity at a high level.
Do you know how much stress a super humid and unfamiliar container will cause to an arid spider? And what good will a icu do to a infested spider you think?
Why would you torture your spider with an ICU??? Can you tell me why that would help?
When buying WC from petstores there is a risk of getting nemotodes, and rescue one from a petstore wll just kill another
