Your favorite “mild mannered” T?

Most of the species I own, both OWs and NWs, are more on the erratic side. The only slow moving/mild tempered T I have is a B.boehmei. I have an empty enclosure and would like to get a T to fill it.

would like to know your favorite Ts or maybe one you recommend I get. I do know that Ts have their own personalities, and don’t mind if the one I get is a bit feisty.

Not sure if it counts as "mild mannered" per se but my versicolor was afraid of everything that wasn't a cricket, and would run and hide at the slightest bump of the desk, even as an adult 🤣

Anything Avic really if you’re into arboreals. My versi is the most kicked back. She cracked me up the other day as I needed to open her enclosure, but she was partway on the door. I very gently moved it slightly, expecting she’d move. She didn’t. I opened a bit further, she just adjusted a foot slightly to allow herself to stretch further.

Yeah! Pin that bleep! Not that you'll find any, but the bicoloratum is the prettiest and coolest, the chilensis is the most poke-able? <use your own discretion?

Cmac, good stuff as always.

Edit: not so sure the annitha is gentle? More like they have the attitude of 'big bleep, on turd mountain ' . Unless that's what you ment?

To me mild means some attitude without thrashing the enclosure about.

Davus pentaloris.

They stick their abdomens up when defensive. Have amazing colors all their life. Small, feisty, webbers, not expensive, good feeders. Barely kick compared to my brachypelmas. Have been visible a lot. My enclosures are set up with this consideration.

if you dont have a davus in your collection, you need one. There are some more rare species available with high price tags. I wish i could afford them!

they have the pumpkin colors 🥰

i have two, after a molt its even more vibrant. They hunt like jaguars.

this one will be due to molt soon. Just so you can see its still gorgeous even when faded. The black will be panther black after a molt and for a while. The burnt orange is always that color.

Ty! Yeah the bicoloratum don't pop up to frequently (at least at a larger size). I've seen mixed reports for the smithi (ex annitha), mine can kick hair and is extremely wrathful towards food, but overall not bad at all... others say there's are real spicy, but then OP said they wouldn't mind a potentially feisty spider.

Already got a bunch of avics, the enclosure would also be more suited for burrowers/terrestrials

Have you looked at what everyone has posted yet?
Yup, in the process of reading them all, saw that you suggested a D.pentaloris. Do already own one and I do love her colours! Mine is always out from june-december, but does a long break every year.

Wow gorgeous pics! I am really considering the klaasi, emilia, and pulchra. Unfortunately no smaller pulchras for sale rn and the 2 inch+ ones are $500 here. Maybe even a smithi? Love their classic T look people always recognize.

a tie between the t vagans i had and my p muticus
Whats your P muticus like? Was considering one a while back. Surprised you mentioned an OW.

Oh man looking at your T.albo makes me regret giving mine. Got a freebie sling few years back, raised it up to 2 inch, and a friend came over and said he was interested in it.

I suppose youll have a hard time getting brachypelmas in your area. Maybe a g pulchripes.

might be you have access to other species we dont get this far west.

Not really, most brachys are very readily available. A lot of people own Ts here so we import and breed a lot, even the rarer species. Although pulchras seem to be hard to find. I find that people here don’t really like WC local Ts even though the local ones sell for 2 dollars.

Can confirm that OWs tend to be cheaper tho. Even p.metallicas are cheap here. Same price as most brachys. Only T thats crazy expensive here is the T.seladonia (then again they are expensive everywhere). Do see the occasional rare T like the Xenesthis sp whites that go for 300-700ish tho.
