Not really, most brachys are very readily available. A lot of people own Ts here so we import and breed a lot, even the rarer species. Although pulchras seem to be hard to find. I find that people here don’t really like WC local Ts even though the local ones sell for 2 dollars.

Can confirm that OWs tend to be cheaper tho. Even p.metallicas are cheap here. Same price as most brachys. Only T thats crazy expensive here is the T.seladonia (then again they are expensive everywhere). Do see the occasional rare T like the Xenesthis sp whites that go for 300-700ish tho.
readily availble? Wow. I guess you dont need any of our advice at this point. Cites species seem to be flowing in your area. Dont wonder why g pulchras isnt availble. Its another legal battle.

theres nothing special about this species. It sits on the infamous illegal board just like t seladonia.

hats your P muticus like? Was considering one a while back. Surprised you mentioned an OW.
its really calm takes its sweet time crawling out of the catch cup each time i rehoused aside from being pissed at getting dug out. i dont trust it though  it moves like it knows its bite packs a punch but zero worries about any running up and over the side of its cage once its got a burrow dug out areally active digger. thats just mine though only others could have really sketchy ones.

Is anyone readily breeding the T seladonias? I feel like I’ve seen them in the hobby for awhile but their prices are so high still… and most I see are WC.

Was looking for a brachy but there are so many to choose from that maybe knowing everyones favorites would help.

Woah crazy prices! That much for a GBB? Brachys too?

I never trust a calm OW hahah, they walk calmly near the catch cup and in a blink of an eye they are on your arm. muticus do look to be on the heavier side tho maybe that comes into play. Hoping to get one some day. Waiting for the right one to be available rn.

There bulkier and slower then obt I’d gladly take one. Mine had a stomach issue lost at 4”. I plan on getting another someday or a few.

Yes they wanted $200-250 plus for a t stirmi , $150+ a genic . I’ve missed there best slings because I didn’t have the $$. So I’ll be saving and ordering online next year maybe. Hopefully I can find a job, once I can beat insomnia … or I’ll just work tired.

Looking and asking, i’ve found a 7 inch B.smithii for $50, 6 inch Vagans for $30, 5 inch emilia for $50, and a 5 inch klaasi for $80. Still torn right now on which to pick.

What is it you want? We all have different specs when it comes to mild tarantulas.

Not looking to handle or anything. I’m looking for a typical “beginner tarantula” since I kind of jumped over those when starting out, never got em and now I feel like somethings missing. Preferably kicks less than a boehmeii (my girls fully bald). hair kicking isn’t a dealbreaker though.

Hard to predict which specimen will kick hairs , I plan on getting a lot without hairs once the funds allow it . So that way parents can say I didn’t get more with urticating hairs. Now I can with a hands off aproach keep a small number 10-30 ones with hairs . Any more is too much. Really only need gloves for rehouse etc . Or cage maintenance.

Same here, was catching my male after a pairing, not too fun. I do have an oddball p.metallica tho, apparently previous owner handled it… (don’t recommend and I’d never). Rehousings are a breeze with her, walked like a brachy. Still don’t fully trust her though, i suspect one day she will bolt out during maintenance.

I am sensitive to their hairs but for some reason keep getting hair kicking species. Xenesthis, GBB, NChromatus, and boehmeis (can’t help it they are too pretty to avoid). Boehmei kicked some in my eye when I watered her yesterday, not too pleasant. Right now i’m leaning towards the hamorii and vagans tho.

In my own personal experience, I actually find my Poecilotheria's to be more calm, predictable, & laid-back, than my Avics. I know that's contrary to their commonly described attribute, but multiple examples in the genus later can't be coincidence. The only thing that might be relevant, is the relative cool temperature that I keep my house (~67°F to no more than 69°F year round), though lethargic they are NOT.

I always hear that people had theirs run around in circles when startled even a bit, mine won’t even budge when poked (she likes being on the front of the glass, not ideal for maintenance).

I don’t think I’m qualified to say that they are calm though since I only have one. While my room is fairly cold, my P.met’s enclosure is beside a reptile enclosure so it gets decently warm from the radiating heat lamp.

For me they were an escape risk , not so much a defensive prone genus . However threat poses do occur , .. on occasion. But I only had regalis, ornata, striata and Miranda. So that’s a lot of missing species I can’t say anything about. Less hazardous to me than anything with irritating hairs. There expensive enough I’d probably get psalmopoeus first.

I've yet to see that circling, either. They DO scurry to the sides as opposed to ahead or behind, but I've never seen any of mine go more than a few body-widths in either direction, much less a full circling of the enclosure. Maybe if I absolutely terrified them somehow, LoL
