This chunky little Theraphosinae sp. mandarin sling molted on Christmas. I was able to snag her molt and sex her as female! I'm excited because she's quickly become one of my favorites. The first photo is of her in premolt, the second is a photo of her tiny spermathecae under my dissecting scope ( you may need to zoom in). I had my Dolichothele minerium and Tapinauchenius sp Tena both molt and get new homes once they hardened up. I still don't know what either adult looks like, but I have a little space to try stuff out for fun. 20241228_135819.jpg 20241228_235613.jpg

Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!
My Costa Rica Zebra molted today after 26 days from the last time it molted.

I'll just name it Nora or Rofarer or Pedro or Elon or Yahanyuan. Not sure of its gender yet.

My A. seemanni is named Pedro! But now she's a recently confirmed female and we may need to reassess the name at some point. It's a strong choice. I approve.

My juvenile female G pulchripes molted today and it was nothing short of a complete shock.
I purchased her sight unseen and must admit I was a bit disappointed in her coloration and referred to her as my “ugly duckling”.
Fast forward to today and it doesn’t even look like the same animal. The coloration is SPLENDID and she appears to have almost increased her size by a full third.
No photos since she’s in her burrow, but, WOW WHAT A SURPISE.

My GBB sling molted for the third time this past Friday and it’s coming along nicely as well, which is a good thing because my adult female is looking a bit raggedy.
