Yea lol I didn't think there would be one at first, but she is also a herpatologist and studies lizards arthropods etc.. she came from one of the zoo's invertebrate houses so she said.

Well I will update them soon, I went to my usual retailer today and picked up a young Pink toe, and an Arizona desert hairy scorp (the pink toe is eating like crazy but the scorp is very fat and wont eat :().

Still i'm just settling them in to their new homes.

The goliath is around the 10' mark maybe more (I can't measure accurately her sheds are over the 9' mark (legs aren't fuly stretched though with slight kinks on the sheds).
She is 7' maybe 7.5 now :p.. so I can't wait to see her.
10 foot? 9 and 7 foot T's! :drool:

j/k...but seriously you are close, but not quite on.

' = foot
" = inch

not usually a problem when talking about small things that usually aren't measured in feet...but if you try to give someone some dimensions and you use ' instead of ", you could really throw someone off :)

Just a humble mistake, I do know my inches and feet lol.. it was just a mistake I overlooked.

Thanks

Look at this big boy, Must be all of 2.5 inches tip of leg to tip of leg, Hes gone off his food the last few days and started climbing around his Exo-Terra Viv, I suppose he might be in pre moult

what are you going to do when it falls and busts open?

IMHO, you should move it to a more suitable [read: shorter] enclosure

blondi

Rarely does he climb the cliff face, I was concerned at first but he has a nice thick peat moss stuff to fall on if he needs to, When he climbs the glass sides it freaks me a little so I have moved his cave and water dish away from the sides

there is still the chance he can fall, personally i know i wouldnt risk that with my blondi (or any of my T's). They all have only 4-5" from the top of the tank to the bottom.

very nice:D

i would follow the advice given and use more peat.am i right in saying those tanks have big doors and only a few inches at the bottom to put peat? if so i would think about getting a more suitable tank for a blondi.:cool:

The big Viv will hold about 5 inches of peat below the doors :eek: , However if you use a heat mat how will it penatrate that to deliver heat to the T :confused: Hes only tiny atm and I certainly will re-house him as and when needed :8o

the heat will be fine and the tank is too tall not the ground not high enough.

I keep my 4.5" blondi in a 10 gallon tanke with 5" of substrate. If the spider was to climb to the top and fall all the way on my tank it would only be about the length of his body, much safer for the T.

If yours falls from the look of it, it has about 7-8x its body length before it hits the ground. Thats a fatal fall for a T (especially since blondis get heavy abdomens. If your T falls you loose $$ and also an unecessary death for a beautiful animal.

I seriously recommend picking up a cheap small tank to keep him in for now, it might not look as impressive but it will be 100x safer.

I thought he was in pre moult but no hes taking adult crickets again, I hadn't feed him for a week maybe he was looking for food :eek: :confused:

How will a heat pad underneath 5 inches of peat give enough heat off for him :confused: my house is a pretty constant 22 deg but I thought blondi needed more I never actually see him on the half that has the mat under, maybe hes too hot or something
