You and your fluffballs seriously tempt me to get more Ts...DAMMIT :D
Can't help it, gotta love 'em ;) Avics are great arboreals to own in my opinion - colorful and easy enough to care for if you follow some simple rules. Go, get some more :D

Thank you, Sir! As mentioned before, seemingly they change to full adult coloration around 9th instar ;)

All these shiny colors remind me of tinsel.
Great photos!
Thank you, M'am! ;)

Found my B. boehmei, "Kenna", molted today morning (now around 2.5"):

Also rehoused my terror, P. cambridgei "Moriko", 5.5" female some 3 days ago and uploaded the vid just now...went easier than I thought ;)

Heterothele villosella - dud sac

Found this upon checking on my T's a few minutes ago:

Already spoke with the breeder I got her from, she wasn't paired at his place. She also molted on June 11th, 2012 in my care. Hence I believe it's a dud, quite nice though! She must've constructed this yesterday or the day before. Guess my care regimen for her is spot-on and she feels safe enough ;)

A few updates...

Congratulations! Obviously it was the male H. villosella "Playboy" of the neighbours {D
LOL - my neighbors are aware of my hobby, none of them is too happy about it, but neither is anyone scared. They just accept it ;)

Tapinauchineus violaceus, "Saranyu", 3.5" female - only shots I was able to get as she's instantly back into hiding if disturbed.

Heterothele villosella, "Takhisis", 2.5" adult female - she's still guarding the sac, wondering how long it'll last ;)

And I got these two hand-made from the daughters of my friend who I taught some about the T's as a christmas present...awesome, right?
They insisted to their mom to make these for me, I really like them, greatly appreciated ;)

Homoeomma sp. "blue" - female!

LOL - yeah, probably. Last time they visited on my birthday (Dec. 29th) and watched me feeding them. Actually had one of my Euathlus sp. "red" trying to nom on me - was hilarious!

Love those pics. Glad to see there's a bright future in German hobby! :)
Thanks! Personally, I like to further the hobby and dispell myths ;) Also always learning something new myself.

Great versi photos Jan!! :D Love the handling vid! :)
Thanks, Michael! Was fun doing that and I got lucky it happened this time while I had the cam there anyways. Wanted to take some pics of another T, but this came as a welcomed surprise :D

Happy New Year everyone! So, first off, my 2nd Homoeomma sp. "blue" molted on December 25th, 2012 as you remember. Well, it's a confirmed female like I assumed ;)

Homoeomma sp. "blue", molt - size approx 3"+ easily seen spermathecae ;)
P1020915.JPG

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", sexed female, ~4" - in her new skin - this was "butt in the air", the next time I prodded her she gave me a threat posture ;)

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", sexed female, ~4" - in her new skin - she sure has some more spunk in her than I expected :D

"Kenna" is now "Kenno", since this one is a male ;) - B. boehmei

Update on Poecilotheria subfusca sling

Great photos/collection Jan! Nice of your murinus to give you a viewing window.
Thank you, appreciated! Yep, I fully agree to the murinus. Sadly, I couldn't retrieve the last molt - the T "added" it into the wall of its burrow :D Hence, still unsure of the sex, still suspecting a girl. *sigh*

I got lucky and found my Poeci sling munching away on a cricket, so I thought I try to take some pics. As before, the little (suspect) guy sat pretty calm just there, letting me take pictures. Size around 2.75"-3" currently now. After taking the pics I took a video, too. When done, I tried to retrieve the last molt - FAIL! First time that I got a threat-posture (with cricket between his fangs still, lol) from this one. Obviously, he was done with me messing with him for the time being. Guess I'll have to wait until he throws it out of the tube... :D

Anyways, here are the pictures...the purple on the carapace already starts to kick in - awesome!

Just for clarification: If the folio stripe lacks the black - it's probably a female, right? Since it's quite pronounced and in addition looks ventrally like a male so far...you get the idea. Any info on that would help me - not 100% sure about his. Thanks - just can't seem to get this right ever :D

That's a good looking P. subfusca there. The only way to be sure of the sex though is to take some ventral pics. :)

Check the video for that ;)

Received my triplets A. geroldi today. Very active little T babys - certainly like to run and jump all over the place, lol! One of them instantly tackled a tiny cricket I offered even - cute. :D Also got a half-hearted threat-pose from one of them :D

I agree with Jason,
If ever possible, please get some pics of it ventrally.. that vid makes it too hard to tell. The camera doesnt allow us to see through the plastic and droplets too well. Maybe lure it into a clear plastic catch cup for a photo session.
If it IS a female id imagine the stripe wont start changing until around 4+" or so... that has been the case with Poeci Ive owned/own at least.
Also, folio stripes HAVE fooled people before (as im sure you know) so just wait for its next molt. Id imagine that the t is already large enough to clearly see spermatheca/the lack of at this point. Good luck bro

A. minatrix after molting and some updates

Good looking slings and subfusca!
Thanks! Those A. geroldi obviously love to run and freak out - way worse than any of the other 7 Avic species I've raised so far.. :D The subfusca is one great T, yeah!

No chance, I tried getting him/her out of there, but only receive some slaps since the T wants to stay in the corkbark tube. I respect that wish and leave it alone. Frankly, I can wait until the next molt - not in a hurry. Either way it's a beautiful specimen and in case it does turn out male, I already have someone interested ;)

Since the A. minatrix molted yesterday (technically like 40 hrs ago) I thought I'd update on her looks now. She's one of those that dislikes the feel / taste of skin, so I didn't bother her too much but just directed her onto a piece of corkbark and took some pictures. Had to exchange water anyways and she was out on the top of her hide. Got lucky, wouldn't have disturbed her if she'd been in her webtube.
