Hey Jan! Congrats on the new additions to your family!! :D I wouldn't worry about your Psalmo curse returning ... something like that just couldn't happen twice! hehe

Yeah, subfuscas are very shy, Not too surprising that it's trying to hide already! It was interesting, and maybe just a difference in temperament between two different sets of siblings, but I raised my first subfuscas individually and they hid all the time, while the second group is being raised communally and they're out far more often. :) (Just my experience.) I love subfuscas!!

I hope you can get some more nice macros of the A. diversipes, they look even more incredible when we shrink down to their size. :D
Ugh, yeah I will certainly try that. Problem is only those are 1st instar and -really- tiny still. Maybe if I can adjust the lighting correctly, I'll be able to get some better shots, but for now, these have to suffice (don't want to disturb them anymore for a few days):

Getting comfy on the corkbark ;)

Closer look (really need to work on my cam-skills...*sigh*)

Here's the housing vid of all those new additions mentioned in my post before ;)

Thanks, but I'm really not happy with those pictures, Michael. I'll have to try getting better ones on the upcoming weekend when it's feeding time ;)

Got another T off my wishlist now: Ephebopus murinus! Just came in today, the spiderling is around 2" and quite stubborn (as you'll be able to see in the vid down below) - just hoping it turns out female ;)

Some pics...

What a beauty, right?

LOL Well as I said, diversipes are tough, my first attempts were pretty bad ... took a lot of experimenting with the lighting to get it to show nicely. :) Amazing shots of your new T, from the photos it's hard to believe it's just 2" till we watch the video! ;) It really looks cute in that second shot!! :D

Yeah, A. diversipes have so much reflection going on when taking pictures...insane!
The E. murinus eventually found the premade burrow I started (after it just used a leaf to hide under...lol) and dug down all the way to the bottom. It now sits waiting for prey on the mound of its burrow every night. Very nice ;)

My P. pulcher molted today and I tried sexing the molt, which makes me believe I have a male here actually. Not too bad, will send him off to do his thing to a breeder unless I get an adult female somewhere when it's the right time for him. I'll post a vid later, but here are some pics I took over the last days...played a little around with different lighting and digital/optical macro, but I'm pretty happy with the outcome of these:

B. boehmei "Kenna", molted Sep. 2nd

A. diversipes "butt-shot" (since Chad loves those :D)
P1020119.JPG

A. amazonica 2" sling...these grow so extremely slow, but they look very cute with the yellow stripes on their legs...
P1020120.JPG

Edit: Here's the vid on the P. pulcher...from what I can tell from the molt, it's a male though I'd like to check on the next molt to be 100% sure.

Thanks, Michael! Can't wait until this T shows its full coloration. Currently at 2"...I'm assuming a couple more molts before I see any red come through really ;)

Rehoused my P. pulcher (suspect) male today. Some pics and vid attached...

Too much flash...

And received this from "Kamala", my B. auratum female, when I got too close for her comfort. Just goes to show that even Brachys have sometimes a "bad day" ;) (she has never tried to bite though - just showing off)

A few updated pictures...

My supposedly E. pulcherrimaklaasi molted some days ago and it does resemble "Homoeomma sp. "blue" (large)" actually (or even Thrixopelma cyaneolum - need to see an intact molt from this specimen to judge that based on spermathekae!), rather than the correct Euathlus with the blue femurs...not too bad, just a little disappointed. Also, I do suspect this one to turn out male...(wasn't able to sex the molt...)
P1020165.JPG

Especially since this one is my Homoeomma sp. "blue" (which I bought as such) - if you notice, the difference between these is that the T pictured above also has a kind blueish abdomen with red hairs, while this one doesn't have that blueish tint to the abdomen. It's rather confusing, but I intend to get them valid IDs...still waiting for answer from Dr. Bertani...
P1020167.JPG

And a little update on the Euathlus sp. "red" / "fire" / "flame" - biggest one molted again and is around 0.75" now...(wow, after a little over a year, not even 1"...this WILL take patience!)
P1020170.JPG

Suffice to say that I'm currently trying to acquire the spider that is actually the "real" E. pulcherrimaklaasi (like the ones seen in Levi's (crawltech) mating videos) - I can't believe how often Homoeomma sp. or even Thrixopelma sp. are sold as Euathlus sp. "blue" (and I mean the "Pichidangui Blue Beauty" with the blue femurs and silver haired carapace by that!).

Either way, nice spiders and still beautiful, no mattter their species.

Looking good regardless! And definitely a slow grower there. What conditions do you keep him in? Temp and feeding wise?

Thanks! The E. sp. "red"? 50/50 moist/dry substrate, room temperature around 24°C...

I did quite some diggin and this is what I came up with:

a) T. cyaneolum hardly gets any bigger than 4” and has brown-orange hairs on the abdomen when adult with quite brightly colored metallic blue legs/carapace with golden like a chaco

b) Homoeomma sp. blue large (or “Peru2”) can get up to 5-6” and has silvery/greenish hairs on the abdomen when adult, with completely blueish legs and the beige stripes on the knees

c) Homoeomma sp. blue small (or "Peru1") gets up to 4,5" but else looks the same as Peru2 from what I gathered

d) Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi has ONLY the femurs blue (or green – depending on which one you get) with RED stripes on the knees and silvery/greenish hairs on the abdomen & carapace

So, yes - I indeed have 1x Homoeomma sp. blue small and 1x Homoeomma sp. blue large. I just got off the phone with the breeder I got these from and he told me he bought them as that from one of his contact which in turn - he will contact now, too! Obviously, with the confusion regarding these species, I'm not surprised. They're being sold with wrong descriptions for years ongoing over here...sadly though.

However, I've been able to find the one that I was looking for which IMO is the -real- "Pichidangui Blue Femur Beauty" (E. pulcherrimaklaasi) and I'll be getting a sexed female sometime the next week for a nice bargain price even! ;)

I was unaware that there were two different sizes of the Homoeomma sp blue. Very interesting.

Thanks Jan those were VERY interesting reads!! My eyes have been opened
Anytime...;)

Great pictures!
Love the euathlus
Thanks! Then you'll love this one now too ;)

So, one of my couple A. versicolor spiderlings molted last night and doesn't look blue anymore ;)
P1020178.JPG

But, here's the main thing: I finally received my Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi female today and boy is she gorgeous! It's extremely hard to capture their blue femurs on pic or film sadly, but she's certainly the "real deal". With approx 4"+ currently she looks juvenile to me, but Levi can maybe enlighten me there some to that subject. I sure as hell would love to try breeding this over here to make them available some more in the hobby! Anyways, you can see very much how different Homoeomma sp. "blue" looks now, I guess ;) I'm -really- happy about this find, especially for 40 EUR this was a real bargain in my opinion...
