My nhandu leaves a trail of silk absolutely everywhere she goes. She never puts those spineretts away! That was a good shot of it though, spider web is hard to photograph clearly for sure.

I love your Irmina. I probably have said that before, but it deserves to be said twice.

43 Minutes?!?! jeebus...*keeps watching*
Yeah, sorry. Whenever I make a new one, I'll cut it down to a NORMAL size again. ;)

Thanks, although I'm not satisfied with that shot I do like it. It's hard to capture it visible on picture I find. Then again, I was doing maintenance mainly and didn't expect her to go on a stroll really to start with ;)

I love my 2 Ladies here, too. They're just gorgeous in coloration and contrast! Speaking of which, my now adult female "Pheadra" finally decided to show up again (haven't seen in her like 2 months):

New coat and 5"+...awesome!

One of my A. purpurea slings is 6/7i. And he is still tiny, like 1-1.25" Still showing sling coloration(That grey tiger stripe look)

If I remember correctly, you said you saw adult coloration at 7/8i? What size were they?

Also when did you get your A. purpurea's and what instar were they when you got them?

Nice pictures by the way!

Yes, they showed loosing sling colors at 7th instar, with only a hint of the white stripes left on there abdomens. Here's the molting dates for comparison:

All purchased 3rd of April, 2012 in 3rd instar stage:

"Azure"
April 30th, 2012
June 7th, 2012
July 16th, 2012
August 23rd, 2012

"Iolanthe"
April 10th, 2012
May 18th, 2012
June 21st, 2012
August, 1st, 2012
September 21st, 2012

"Melaena"
April 27th, 2012
May 31st, 2012
July 6th, 2012
August, 16th, 2012

I'm currently waiting for "Azure" and "Melaena" to molt, but they take their time ;) The 8th instar one is approx. 2.5" now, the other couple around 2".

I had tried to maneuver her a little, but she was absolutely not willing to endure any more pictures ;) The start of the threat-posture was the only sign of defensiveness from her actually (besides wiggling fangs) - I guess I can call myself really lucky having a quite calm specimen of these. She's awesome!

That Homoeomma is gorgeous!
Yes, they are ;)

Tapinauchineus violaceus molt = female! Guess I got lucky having bought only a single sling of these ;)

...and as assumed already, I think my 2nd GBB will turn out male, too..pity.

Good deal, definitely got lucky.
Yep, obviously ;) However, that one is very reclusive! I'll have to rehouse her with the next molt anyways, so that'll be fun chasing an extremely fast spider down - can't wait, hehe :D

My biggest A. purpurea (2.25"-2.5") was not retreating to his hide for a change, so I snatched a couple pictures quickly! Awesome looking T!

Nice pics and collection! I got my A. purpurea sling April 2011 at 2nd instar (if my memory serves me right) its currently a little over 2", very slow growing, I think Chad said mine has it's adult colors already, but I'm not sure, I will check tonight, I haven't got a good look at it since it recently molted.

I must of misunderstood Chad, My purpurea that I have owned for 1 and a half years, does not have it's mature colors. Still sportin the black and grey tiger rump.

Thanks, Brett! I just LOVE their colors! One of the most beautiful Avics out there - though A. diversipes are stunning, too!

+ 1 on the purps looking great!! I so can't wait mine is still tiny :(
Thanks, man! They grow pretty quickly actually, IMO. I bought mine as 3rd instar on April 3rd, 2012 and they're already 2"+ and 7th to 8th instar without power-feeding or keeping them on elevated temps. WAY faster growing than A. amazonica...

Thank you! I consider them rather fast growing as mentioned above, actually.

as always great pics, and some sweet avic's.
Thanks, buddy. ;)

Some pics I took today after I rehoused my P. subfusca "lowland" spiderling (which went TOTALLY easy - wth? You seem to be right Michael + Chad - no bolting, no threatening, nothing at all...totally calm specimen so far - *amazed*)

Tapinauchineus violaceus, "Saranyu" - 2.5"+ confirmed female (by molt)

P. pulcher, "Flavia" - 3" (suspect male) - frankly, I'm not too sure about this one being a male anymore... :o_O:
