That's a beautiful Gooty Saphire you have. Let me guess 1.5+ inches right

Well, the largest of my females molted last night. As you can see from pic of the molt below, she was ~4.5" before this molt. I'll let her be undisturbed for a few days to harden up and then get some good shots of her now in all her glory. Even the shed skins of this species are like works of art.

For those who may be interested, this is the molt record for this girl.

04-19-2004
05-20-2004
06-28-2004
08-09-2004
09-28-2004
11-23-2004
02-10-2005
04-30-2005

So it took ~1 year for this female to go from ~0.5" to ~6.0"

Sure, in two years it will be available for $50 or less as a sling, but that's two whole years...

<pictures getting struck by lightning in thunderstorm again. Nope, not really helping with the T-lust>
This quote is almost exactly 2 years old, anyone else having fun reading the entire thread again?! {D {D

my 3.5" is in premolt. I STILL have no idea whether it's male or female. Was it ever determined if you can give a good guess on the dorsal side, like regalis?
I'm sure I'll know after this molt, if I can get the exuvia out this time unscathed.

Thanks Dwayne, how are your little ones doing?
My two are doing good. Even though they are from the same sac, they alternate molting. They are also eating machines!

I rehoused the P metallica today, and took a few pics. I'm in agony over the gender of this spider. I can't seem to sex pokies at all, and this spider has torn every molt to shreds before I can get to it. I don't know if P metallica can be dorsally sexed either. It's getting fairly large, probably close to 4" or so by now. I'm leaning towards male, but that's just a guess.....

Nice very nice, just curious ive noticed the blue being very intense in some, not so intense in others.Typical variation amongst individuals?Or gender specific?I havent seen enough of these to hazard a guess 2 so far in person,1 beat up one i came by.The only reason i've held off on buying one from a dealer is it would be a display/breeding animal for me,so i would want a female for longevity. But since any dealer that id'ed a female sling would probably charge me double for it,i guess i'll have to wait till the price drops further and my wife might let me get 3 or 4.May yours be female Holley.

thanks all. As far as the blue coloring, flash tends to bright it out ALOT. To me, it looked more purply then blue in the kitchen with outdoor light. However, I couldn't figure out how to turn the flash OFF to get the colors right. It IS that blue in sunlight, but not in daylight, IME. Also, it does seem more muted than some pics I've seen, but again, flash does freaky things, so I don't know. It seems like the lines on this T 'blend' more, and are not so sharply defined. I guess that is partly what makes me think it may be a male. Whatever it turns out to be, I'm still happy I have it :)
