I've heard rumblings that you start to see some slight color differences dorsally in subadults... that one or the other carry more "white" than the other. However, in the ones I've raised so far I haven't noticed a difference. My largest male is 4.5" at the moment, and I don't notice the color differnce in him vs. my larger females. Although I haven't spent any real time comparing it closely.

I've found sexing this species ventrally to be more difficult as well, at least for me.

Heres some ventral shots of both female, and male around 4-5 inches. I hope they help, more than confuse you. This is a hard spider to sex, I cant tell you how many hours I've wasted staring at them. Sexing the exuvia with a microscope is kinda hard too, they have the smallest spermathecae.

it mainly has to do with size. once they get 5" the blue "explodes" and becomes so intense you have to see it in real life to believe it!

Finally a Female

One of my four juvy Gooty's just molted yesterday and I'm relieved to say it is a female. As for the other three, I can only guess from ventral study that I have 2 males and another female. Only time will tell for sure. I will post some new photos A.S.A.P. Laters

Wow what a great Picture of an amazing T. I dont have to worry about buying one as they arent up here in Canada yet. Plus I know I wouldnt spend $300 on one right now as I have to pay for school. But as soon as that is paid for and all my paychecks start going into my pocket I will most likely buy one as soon as I see one on a pricelist.
