Dominique (0.1 Phormictopus sp. Dominican purple) finally emerged from her burrow after a molt about a week ago. Back to her usual defensive and food motivated self! IMG_20240613_191312780~2.jpg

The chelicerae are massive now which is the biggest change honestly... I swear this spider only gains 1/8" per moult 😆

Davus sp Panama.
Unfortunately I blinded her with a flashlight attempting to get a better pic and she scrunched up to hide. Too big now for her whole body to fit in the frame of my macro lens.

Since the last post on Friday, I've had molts by:

0.0.1 Ornithoctoninae sp. Hana, 2.25" DLS:
20240615_123657.jpg
20240615_123800.jpg

0.0.1 Cyriocosmus sp. oronegro, 0.625" DLS;

0.0.2 Davus sp. Oaxaca, 0.75" DLS;

0.0.1 Psalmopoeus irminia, 1.25" DLS;

0.0.1 Eucratoscelus pachypus, 1" DLS:
1000024271.jpg

0.0.1 Euathlus sp. bronze, 0.625" DLS:
1000024216.jpg

0.1 (suspect) Brachypelma klaasi, 1.5" DLS:
1000024245.jpg

0.0.1 Coremiocnemis hoggi, 0.875" DLS:
1000024252.jpg

0.0.1 Homoeomma orellanai, 0.5" DLS;

0.0.1 Homoeomma chilense, 1.125" DLS:
1000024267.jpg

0.1 Grammostola sp. "concepcion", 1" DLS:
1000024266.jpg

Some of these were LONG awaited - the Brachypelma, Grammostola, Euathlus, and Homoeomma molt cycles totaled 1121 days (running concurrently, of course 😁). That's a long time for 5 little slings, though...

I have been slacking posting my molts, which means my record keeping has gone down the drain, but wanted to celebrate a few

1.0 Tindalos, Brachypelma klaasi
Did NOT mature, so we get at least another year together 😍
PXL_20240619_122908177.jpg

0.0.1 Qinglong, Chilobrachys natanicharum
I am ENAMORED with this little sling. I moved it from the sling vial into a 4x4x4 to give it a little more time building a cool home, it was but an inch. While I was prepared to stress out looking for it until it put on more size, I was not expecting this thing to be so confident. It is ALWAYS out. I am not disappointed, in fact it may be my 2nd favorite OW

Now in TECHNICOLOR 😍😍😍😍😍

Leaving my #1 with Phormingochilus sp rufus
This little tyke was offered to me as a freebie after completing my last online purchase of the summer, so technically a surprise. I would've paid money for this thing but a generous breeder made my day

0.0.1 Wildfire, P sp rufus about 3/4" now
Look at this majestic slob ❤
PXL_20240619_123754897.jpg

My "limited edition Aphonopelmas" as I call them
Last week and last night respectively
Dare I say we are ready for a rehouse??? I believe it has abandoned it's burrow and closed it off. Been topside for the first time since I got it! BONAFIDE HALF INCH FOLKS
0.0.1 Phil, Aphonopelma steindachneri (I'm guessing female based on two factors - the size of the chelicerae and the burrowing activity*)
PXL_20240619_124206156.NIGHT.jpg

This one maaaayyy be ready for a rehouse into the same sized container, but with cross ventilation (carapace has been smaller than my 1/16" bit)
I would say it has finally caught up to Phil's original size the day I bought them (I deliberately grabbed tt because it was freakishly smaller than the others for sale). I will not miss wasting 5cc of water trying to squeeze one drop in through a tiny needle hole
(Top right corner you can see some white legs)
0.0.1 Rephil, Aphonopelma steindachneri (no guesses yet because even better than 20/20 I can't see the chelicerae 🤣 but it's never used a burrow...now that I can compare sizes Ill be analyzing for a useless prediction I'll forget about in 5 years when I can actually confirm)
PXL_20240619_124111607.jpg

*My own dumb theory, female slings instinctually invest more effort into burrowing, while my males just sit around waiting for someone to make them a sandwich 🤣🤣🤣🤣
