Well, my A. purpurea took out the trash today at least.

If I had to bet though, I'm guessing it actually molted back in like... November.

1.0 (suspect) Theraphosinae sp. mishana molted last night. He's around 3" DLS, maybe a bit larger. The creature in his cave:

I wish I could get a better picture of her but this was the best I got from this extremely reclusive girl who is more fossorial than terrestrial. Vitalius chromatus (ex. Nhandu chromatus) adult female, Hjördis, now pushing 5.5-6" and sporting a fiery red butt. ❤🔥

It's my MM irminia who's driving me nuts -- he molted on 10/29 and STILL hasn't even cracked the seal on his web fortress, let alone taken out the garbage. 😑
Hikkomori Irmin will leave his fortress of solitude when he's out of hot pockets and anime and not a moment sooner!

Oh my MM irminia still lives with the shell of his former self, but he does come out now and makes a lap around the enclosure, checking for females. Tap on the right wall, “Any females over here?” Tap on the back wall, “Hey ladies!…..” Tap on the left wall, “Where my ladies at?” Tap on the front wall, “Anyone…? No..? Alright, peace out!”
Hopefully yours will get out the awkward, What-do-I-do-with-all-these-legs! and How do I not tickle myself when I scratch? stage.

Speaking of molts that will likely never be retrieved, one of my Ornithoctoninae sp. Hana molted today. I'm not optimistic that I'll ever get that molt out of the burrow until rehousing, which may be sooner rather than later... Exuvia on the left, fresh T in the right, lit from underneath:

Sorry about posting more bad pics, lol.

Bad pics day it is then. Freya/Freyr, my larger Caribena versicolor molted today. Molt is somewhere on the left, spider center-right. 2024-01-05 21.14.04.jpg

And finally a long awaited molt from my unsexed Cyriocosmus perezmilesi. The previous molt cycle took 41 days, this one... 166. I'm fully expecting a mature male to trot out of the hide, but we'll see in a few days.

Thank you!
Such a stupid thing!
I read through that paper again last night and it will definitely make your head spin. Lots of switching and switching back and new combinations... Gotta keep those taxonomists busy! 😆

The problem with taxonomy is that, in addition to science, a lot of narcissism and competition between individuals and countries also play a role. In a really serious and reputable system, this constant back and forth wouldn't exist (at least not to this ridiculous extent). Often people don't work with each other - as I think it is necessary - but against each other...

Machu Picchu my Theraphosinae sp Cuzco has moulted again, this little one has been churning them out quickly and putting on decent size with each moult and in about 4 months has gone from 0.5cm max to about 3cm dls and is even starting to pick up some of that adult colouration 😊

Everything went well everything is out that should be just waiting for little one to move so I can get that moult n hopefully gender but seen as the moult is in a tiny ball under Machu am not holding out hope.
Well done little one!
