Do these guys get darker or lighter towards a molt? Mine is around 4.5” but she’s a VERY dark brown and went off food around a month ago.
They typically lighten up to brown, then are refreshed to a deep black after molting. Her late in her molt cycle being naughty. This is what I saw when I came home from work, lid ajar, and her sitting on top of her neighbor's cage.

Then another time, just a month or so after she molted, going after prey, she jumped out of her cage.

I have a lot of tarantulas in premolt right now....
That comment aged well lol. While I still have quite a few in premolt, it's not as many as yesterday lol. Just looking around the room, I can see quite a few molted out today. So far:
  • 0.0.1 Phormingochilus sp Sabah Dwarf (REALLY hoping I can get this one sexed this molt)
  • 0.0.1 Tapinauchenius violaceus
  • 0.0.1 Tapinauchenius sanctivincenti
  • 0.0.1 Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum
  • 0.0.1 Homoeomma chilense
  • 0.0.1 Aphonopelma mooreae
  • 0.0.1 Ornithoctonus aureotibialis
  • 0.1 Aphonopelma gabeli (whose pictured below currently shredding her molt for moisture..... next to a water bowl...)
  • 0.0.X Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue (eggsack in the process of molting to 2i)

Yeah, I’m waiting on this one to molt. She’s been refusing food for close to a month now.

Went through the collection tonight and it looks like my female M robustum snuck in a molt on me in the last few days. She destroyed the meaningful part of her molt so I can’t see if shes sexually mature

I'm really excited to see the A. sp Dragoons freshly molted. I mean, this was her in her OLD clothes less than two months ago:
Caught her stretching in her new exoskeleton this morning and managed to take a quick picture through the lid without disturbing her.

I had to do a double take this morning when I took a look at this female A. gabeli that recently molted. Doesn't even look like the same spider pictured before. I actually had to post it in the "Guess that spider" thread

And here's the same female gabeli doing some stretches a bit later.

Peaches, my N. tripeii, molted while I was out of town! Confirmed female with this molt, very pleased about that. Got her in April of 2020 as a tiny sling and she's grown so much. She hasn't left the burrow yet, but I had to take a pic of how big she's gotten!

My H. Mac just molted yesterday after 7 days of showing signs of a premolt. Had me worried because every other day this dude would flip on his back and then crawl around the enclosure. Thought I was going to lose him on day 6 and I decided to make him an ICU. Left him for 5 hours at 100% humidity and came back to a fresh spider!
