 I didn't mean to make it sound like anybody was unwelcome...the more the merrier..I was just teasin':8o Should have my foot chocolate coated cause it's in my mouth so often:cool:
Haha.. if you thought you might have offended (such a strong word) me, no worries. It's not very possible! :) Besides, I let Canth have 8 legged freaks back when I suffered from pretty severe spiderphobia - I can't be all that bad, can I? I even helped him look for and collect widows on our last trip, I've come a lonnnnnnng way!

Sky, I'll shoot you an email in a bit to give you more thoughts and details!

Well, this would be cool. I'd love to come, if someone would be willing to let me hitch a ride around with them... shoot me a pm if you could, I'd appreciate it, will split gas money and all that.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to call me a spider person  , but new friends are always a plus; I can handle that part! Truth be told, I'm still pretty phobic around some species, but I'm making progress. I'm a wimp... even harvestmen make me cringe.. lol

I think I'll use this trip to set a goal for myself.. I am going to make it a point to hold (well, let it walk on me) a harvestman and see if it helps push me forward a little more. I swear, the things we do for our kids... :(

If your son is a spiderperson that makes you one "by blood" and don't tell anybody but I was a little "nervious" the first time I held a Tarantula..but after a few seconds it was really cool..kittens can bite if you treat them wrong..and speaking of Mom's...my Mom said she would care for Mya my G. rosea while I'm on the trip, that really surprised me:eek:

Midland Airport 24th or 25th

Just to throw it out there - I haven't decided on the night of the 24th or the morning of the 25th for flying in yet, but if someone needs to fly in either of those times and needs a ride from the airport to Ft. Davis, let me know and I can go either way.

I know there will be a caravan from the airport earlier in the day on the 24th, but since I'll be coming in after that and renting a car anyway, I'm more than willing to provide a ride if someone needs it.

I am going to leave it up in the air for another couple weeks and then book the tickets, so there's still time for those that aren't sure yet.

Yes Sweat and Chocolate really don't go good together LOL:D

So Sky how many people have said they are gonna go on the trip so far? Also I was wondering how long are the hikes going to be as I am starting to walk now to get in shape for the trip...breaking in the equip and getting used to carrying it and such.

The hikes will vary in length depending on the person. We will never be too far from the vehicles though, except maybe in Big Bend. Its mostly just walking around in the area where the cars are parked.

Ive only gotten a few confirmation emails from people who are for sure going, but I think there are others planning on it. Here is my email again for those who dont know it:

The riding is incredible! Im seriously thinking about taking my bike, but I know I just wont have the time to ride. If you are interested, I can map out some good rides for you to take. The hotel is actually in the mountains.

ATTENTION!!

Ok everyone, another friendly reminder. I need to know exactly who is going. I have reservations to make at two different restaurants, so its vitally important that I get a list. If you havent emailed me to confirm you are going, please do so, or you will be eating out of the gutter while the rest of us enjoy some very fine dining!

Thanks everyone who has emailed me to let me know they are coming on the trip. So far we have 13 people confirmed, 14 if I count myself (which I most often forget to do). Im still waiting to hear back from two people. Looks like we are going to have a good group of people!

That reminds me are there any stores anywhere near the ranch if we want junkfood or beer or other stuff? or do I need to stock up on the way?

Yes, there will be some stores close, but it would probably also be a good idea to get some stuff ahead of time. Ft Davis has a convenience store that has a good amount of stuff, and there is a small grocery store in Alpine as well. The only time we will be near something like Walmart though, is when we are in Del Rio, so if you need something from there get it ahead of time, or when you are here in Midland. For those flying into El Paso, there is a Walmart on I10 on the way out of town, and its a good place to stop.

After 10pm though, there is nothing open in Ft Davis, and only the Town & Country and McDonalds open in Alpine, so if you are hungry after that time, you better already have bought food, lol. Gotta love small towns.
