A bunch of pictures

Very beautiful adult A. versicolor!!
Thanks! I'll let the T know :D

Very nice Ts! I'm still waiting for my slings to grow up. I've just ordered 4 new slings from The Spider Shop, and they should arrive sometime next week.
Thank you! A good percentage of my current collection is still in sling stage and will probably be always. The stock of ones collection usually fluctuates depending on what you sell/pair/acquire - good thing about keeping more than 1...or 3...or...10...or... - you get the picture :D

Cool thing about having visited this board on-off for a couple of years is seeing how collections and documents in picture threads develop over time; and getting that sense of having been with them throughout. Good old 'Phaedra' in particular, in this case. Those chevrons are immense.
Thanks, mate! Yeah, she's still very calm even. Suprisingly I should add. I always had the suspicion that at some point, she'd change, but she didnt. The other one I have, Firali, has become increasingly more defensive and is right now as bad as my Chilobrachys fimbriatus devils, haha. Thanks for checking on my thread.

This one is mostly slings / juvies with some adult poured in between. Enjoy!

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" adult female - very voracious after that dudsac she had presented me with a few moths back :D

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" adult female - she's also quite defensive since then and I didn't even take the sac away from her until she had dropped it...pff!

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" adult female - however, she's doing fine and besides her somewhat skittish and defensive behavior is still a very beautiful T that shouldn't be missing in any collection

"Nyx", Grammostola pulchripes, ~6" female - moody, moody, moody 'nuff said! Here shown chowing down on an adult locust I gave her as a treat :)

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" juvie - despite being beautiful, this one also loves to surprise me...

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" juvie - ...which usually ends up in her (suspect female) to jet out of the enclosure to take a run around the circumference of it

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" juvie - besides that, she's a good eater, quite calm so far and growing moderately fast

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" juvie - Again - how can one resist these stunning colors? People going "eww" at the view of that must be either blind or don't have an eye for details!

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2.5 juvie (suspect male) - this little jerk is always in that pose during daytime. Funny enough, he has a retreat he uses when disturbed, but he chose to stay visible normally. Odd...

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2.5 juvie (suspect male) - Then again...his feeding response is outright awesome! :D

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2.5 juvie (suspect male) - Slowest.Growing.Avic.EVER! :D

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2.5 juvie (suspect male) - Once eating, he's very content wherever he sits that moment!

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2.5 juvie (suspect male) - Closest I could get with my cam :)

"Harlequin", Hapapous sp. "Colombia large", ~2" unsexed - Not as skittish as most seemingly are...

"Harlequin", Hapapous sp. "Colombia large", ~2" unsexed - ...in comparison very much bitey! :D

"Harlequin", Hapapous sp. "Colombia large", ~2" unsexed - Kicking hairs? Yeah, this one can - but usually likes to try biting. Maybe a disguised A. geniculata fallen into a paint-jar?

"Harlequin", Hapapous sp. "Colombia large", ~2" unsexed - Either way, all I can say is raising this one from 0.25" this far was fun! I'm looking foward to see the T grow further!

Thanks for checking on my picture. I'll link some feedings later possibly.

A few more pictures

Here's some more:

"Moriko", Psalmopoeus cambridgei, ~7" female - after she lost her right pedipalp in the last molt I was thinking she couldn't take down large prey...

"Moriko", Psalmopoeus cambridgei, ~7" female - ...how wrong I was! Tackled an adult Locust with gusto and no whatsoever problems :D

"Moriko", Psalmopoeus cambridgei, ~7" female - Legs!

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" suspect female - with her catch of the day :D

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" suspect female - ...and an over-head pic :)

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, ~2" suspect male - freshly molted last night, looking all blue now :)

"Aurora", Avicularia minatrix, ~2.75" adult female - the most I saw from her. She came out and immediately turned around like "Bah! Light! See ya..."

That cracks me up, my versi is out all the time, she/he just likes to hang out of the tube by a few toes, certainly not a shy one.

A. minatrix are one of the most shy Avic species. Trust me, they hide as much as Psalmopoeus spp and aren't out often, except at night for a bit. My versi is out often enough to see her in turn and isn't that reclusive at all.

What got me was its attempt to hide with the abdomen sticking out, I have a few Ts that do this and I'm thinking, "I can still see you". I will have to try out minatrix if I happen to find some over here. I really do enjoy avics even though I only have one.

Enabler! All my A. versicolor matured male and flew the coop. I decided I wouldn't replace them. After seeing Star and Lin's photos, I may have to rethink that.... :)
Great pics, as always, Jan!

Oh, she wasn't. I simply took that picture that particular moment. It was taken "in the move" of her :)

Ha! You call that yourself, Joyce! :D Thank you for checking on my pics frequently, really appreciate it! As for the versicolors: I can't help it, for some reason I often get lucky getting only 1 or a couple and BAM - female! :D

Thank you!

So, today it's all about my big Avic girl: Nila. Remember I bought her as A. azuraklaasi (and when saying that I mean what goes over here as that!) but soon got the suspicion (as various other reknown members) that it might be A. braunshauseni. Now, after the latest molt, I think she might be a hybrid actually. Reason: A. braunshauseni have very prominent long satae on leg-pair III -and- IV. Nila though has them mostly on pair IV only. What blows me away is that I got her from a completely reputable breeder over here with whom I traded frequently in the past and still plan to. He's a good guy and I'm aware he got this particular T as ~1.5" sling (at which point I bought it). Anyways, she's a beautiful 6"+ girl and certainly has a temper sometimes. She's food-aggressive, otherwise usually slow moving, but behaves frequently like "Phaedra", moving fangs already in warning when I open her cage to exchange water already. Personality plus! For the time being, I will keep her labled as "A. azuraklaasi" though, especially since her spermathecae looks as much as that, as it does for braunshauseni. They're hard to tell apart IMO.

Here's some pics of her from feeding today:

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - good to see here that leg-pair IV has the "socks", while pair III barely shows them

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - yes: Heavy webber! :D

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - same here, check leg-pair III...

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - *nomnomnom*

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - from the other side, slightly different lighting

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - a beauty, no matter what species she may be now

"Nila", Avicularia azuraklaasi, 6"+ female - ...she blocks off the vents everytime on the sides after I freed them. Obviously she's fine with the couple ontop...

"Kyla", Avicularia sp. amazonica (Manaus), ~4.5" female - this is the girl that I paired up a couple weeks ago

"Kyla", Avicularia sp. amazonica (Manaus), ~4.5" female - for once got some good pics while feeding :)

"Kyla", Avicularia sp. amazonica (Manaus), ~4.5" female - very calm so far in comparison to the very bitey and defensive MM lol :D

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, ~2.25" suspect female - she loves the mealworms...

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, ~2.25" suspect female - closer...

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, ~2.25" suspect female - even more close....

And for good measure: Phaedra's Adult Locust catch from today! :)

"Phaedra", Psalmopoeus irminia, ~5.25" adult female - adult locust? GIMME!

"Phaedra", Psalmopoeus irminia, ~5.25" adult female - she shot out of her hide fast as lightning for this prey item! :D

Thanks for checking out my T's and pictures! Appreciated!

Surprise: Euathlus sp. "red" MM ! & H. sp. "blue" finally molted!

I'm not gonna lie: I'm in awe! Considering how -slow- these grow, Euathlus sp. "red" ("fire") didn't strike me as those that would suddenly show a MM already. Well, "4of4" molted already a few days ago and I didn't see the T, until today. And how suprised was I to find a mature male (!), yes MM folks, already? Especially, since the little guy is barely 2.25" now! TINY!

On another note, when finishing up feeding the Avics and Poecies, I checked on "Jewel" and YES! - she did molt just a couple hours ago! I know, because 2 hrs ago while I was in the room and threw the general look into cages gathering some stuff, she was still in the process.

The third candidate that molted last night obviously, is "3of4" of the Euathlus sp. "red" ("fire"). One, I suspect to be female and going just by looks and in this case chelicerae - I'm pretty sure this one IS a female. Sadly, this molt again was too munched up to sex .

Suffice to say: I'm surprised and glad at the same time. Not yet sure if I'm going to try keep my MM to see if he stays around long enough until I can positively sex and confim one of the supposedly females being adult, or sending him to my breeder friend - but I kinda think about trying to see if he'd last long enough. After all, MM of G. rosea can live a long time, too. Pretty sure these guys are just as "long-lasting" :)

Here's a couple pics of the TwinGBBRehouse from a few days ago (the vid is on my YT channel):

Unnamed, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, unsexed ~2" - in new cage...

Unnamed, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, unsexed ~2" -

"4of4", Euathlus sp. "red, ~2.25 mature male - SUPRISE! Hooks!

"4of4", Euathlus sp. "red, ~2.25 mature male - slightly better seen on this pic...

"4of4", Euathlus sp. "red, ~2.25 mature male - different angle showing the T

"4of4", Euathlus sp. "red, ~2.25 mature male - full body view (also pay attention to the slim chelicerae and those of the supposed female next pic)

"3of4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~2" suspect female - molted last night hence the colors somewhat bright

"3of4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~2" suspect female - "she" look great, though :D

"3of4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~2" suspect female - closeup

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", formerly ~5" female - freshly molted 2 hrs before this pic

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", formerly ~5" female - different angle and glad she molted fine. Certainly due for rehouse once hardened up :D

"Kamala", Brachypelma auratum, ~5"+ female - stuffing her face, she was hungry like crazy :)

Nila is a DOLL! Just gorgeous!
Phaedra is lovely, as always. My little vixen has been holed up in her cork round for a couple of months. Hoping to see some new clothes when she deigns to show herself.
I love Jewell's molting hammock! Congrats on another successful molt! My Spectre always built hammocks until I gave her the cork round. Now she just web lines that. :)

Thanks, Joyce! "Nila" is one of those precious to me. I got her as a ~2" spiderling and she's always been fairly docile throughout the time I raised her. When she gained adulthood, she changed to being somewhat defensive occasionally, though. With her impressive 6" this is one stocky built Avic for sure! And to make it even better her colors are outright awesome in my opinion! ;)

It's going towards the end of the year. I've made the experience that my P. irminia ladies, "Phaedra" as much as "Firali", tend to retreat for the most part during Nov-Feb basically. It might be the usual behavior for them, I don't know. "Phaedra" hardly shows up during that time at all, while "Firali" is extremely defensive (even more than usual) during that. Their cages vary greatly and in her case that means she has less space than "Phaedra", but more secrecy. She certainly views the whole thing as her territory and intrusions are not looked upon nicely :D

As for "Jewel", I checked on her and took these pictures now that she starts to harden somewhat:

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", pre-molt size was ~5" - she's due for a rehouse once hardened up now...

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", pre-molt size was ~5" - all legs there, pedipalps fine - she's looking awesome! Gotta love the steely blue color with the cream-colored stripes

Updates on E. sp. "red" / Homoeomma sp. "blue" / "Phaedra" aso

"3 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", mature male ~2" - he's become very stubborn :)

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" female - she has since sealed herself in and I'm awaiting either a molt, or her dropping another dud :D

"Phaedra", Psalmopoeus irminia, ~5.25" female - her only reaction to my intrusion was to "get ready" to take a run and hide

"Phaedra", Psalmopoeus irminia, ~5.25" female - she decided to just sit and wait though, luckily :D Love this girl!

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", ~5.5" female - *streeetch*

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", ~5.5" female - she looks lovely again after that molt

"Jewel", Homoeomma sp. "blue", ~5.5" female - different angle

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~1.5" suspect female - this is the one that molted the same day as my male

"1 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", ~1.5" suspect female - and this suspect girl molted just a few days ago :)

"Kenno", Brachypelma boehmei, ~3.25" juvie male - he's such a personality. Sometimes outright defensive, then back to "the rock" and right after going after the tongs even :D

Thanks for checking.

You and your sp. blue really make me consider saving up for a trip to Germany to some big expo or something. The variety of species available in my country pales in comparison (and a lot of them is wrongly labeled anyway)

If I'd be you I'd ask M. Scheller if there's any way you could acquire one from him else next year?

BEAUTIFUL T's! Love your versi!
Phaedra is a really beautiful P. irminia. Nice pictures!

Who isn't?
Thanks, guys! :)

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" unsexed - interestingly, this little one carried (!) it's old exoskeleton to the ground

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" unsexed - and no, didn't molt on the ground.

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" unsexed - same T, sitting on the side of its enclosure

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, ~2" unsexed - one more, for the heck of it :)

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" suspect female - *nomnomnom* :)

"Star", Avicularia versicolor, ~2" suspect female - this supposedly female is such a beauty as a sling already...stunning!

Unnamed, Euathlus sp. "blue femur" (pulcherrimaklaasi), ~0.75" - the smallest of my triplets I got from the user fraxinus

Unnamed, Euathlus sp. "blue femur" (pulcherrimaklaasi), ~0.75" - interestingly, this one developed slightly blueish toes now and I'm wondering if this isn't Homoeomma sp. "blue"? Time will tell, never raised one of these from a sling :)
