Thats it, I'm getting a Homoeomma, I was beating around the bush on getting one but your pictures have convinced me otherwise.

Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing, my students sure appreciated it! :)
Glad to hear :)

Great pics and always happy to have updates! :)
Thank you!

Ha! Enabled!

Yeah, I'm still around. Just not as frequently as I'd like to, Michael. Also, thank you :)

After my huge P. cambridgei girl "Moriko" molted, she has actually moved into the corkbark tube for good apparently. Needless to say, she messed the molt up completely, thowing a leg here, the carapace there, some more parts into a 3rd direction...I truely think she "hates" her molt, haha! Either way, she already ate a superworm yesterday and looks nice green (sorry, cam didn't pick up the colors really as I took these through the glass - didn't feel like chasing her around for 40min again in my bedroom, Chad! She's nuts if she's out. Running all over the place and a pain in the rear to capture again!)

"Moriko", Psalmopoeus cambridgei, ~7" female - Out after her last molt end of March ;-)

Also have some in heavy premolt:
1x GBB
1x A. geniculata ("Medeia", ~6" female which I personally can't wait for to molt again! She's a beast, but I love her stocky built and attitude :D)
1x Euathlus sp. "fire" (hopefully the little one molts soon and gain some size - hey, one can hope, right?)
1x Avicularia amazonica ("Kyla", ~3.5" female - hopefully my MM will be still good when she molts!)

Awesome shots of Moriko! :D
I did better before...those I had to take through the glass sadly. Else she a) freaks out and is all over the place, or b) vanishes instantly. :D

Some shots taking during maintenance today...

"Adena", Brachypelma smithi, ~4.75-5" female - she decided to walk out of her enclosure while I was refilling her waterdish :)

"Adena", Brachypelma smithi, ~4.75-5" female - different angle

"Adena", Brachypelma smithi, ~4.75-5" female - and her cute front (should mention she didn't kick hairs once even...very well behaved!)

"Kamala", Brachypelma auratum, ~5" female - ...and this girl a) slapped my chopstick first, then went threatening...odd? :D

"Kamala", Brachypelma auratum, ~5" female - in pouncing stance, ready to give me another slap, haha :)

"Gemma", Euathlus pulcherimaklaasi, 4.5" female - the girl was quite skittish today during cage-cleaning, so I decided to move her out for that

"Gemma", Euathlus pulcherimaklaasi, 4.5" female - ...during which she actually nearly bit me! First time she ever made any move like that...surprisingly.

"Gemma", Euathlus pulcherimaklaasi, 4.5" female - ...but that goes to show how their temperament can vary. This girl I can usually pick up and just move her out of the way...not gonna do that for a while :D

Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.5" MM - molted last night, kicks hair already today afternoon...*sigh*

Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.5" MM - ...well, at least now my suspicion is proven - male! :)

Also molted (but no pics):
1x Euathlus sp. "red", 2 of 4 - now at a whopping 1.5" approx :D (sadly missed taking a pic of that tiny one stretching - too funny to watch!)
1x Euathlus pulcherrimaklaas sling 3of3 - now at ~1.5" and starting to get the knee stripes (though without the red)
1x Ephebopus murinus, "Asteria", size before molt ~4.5" - haven't seen her out yet, will update when she shows up!

PS: Michael, Chad, Chris, Jeff, or whoever has an adult B. auratum - can you confirm that their carapace has a LOT of structure on yours, too? (A pic would be awesome if so!) Have noticed my girl has an awesome structured carapace, almost looks as if a pattern was carved into it...amazing!

Sling time! (Avics / Euathlus / Hapalopus)

Here's some actual pictures of some of my slings...enjoy!

Hapalopus sp. "Colombia Large", unsexed ~1.25" - this little one is actually, believe it or not: Bitey! Like my A. geniculata everything moving gets bitten - could be food!

Hapalopus sp. "Colombia Large", unsexed ~1.25" - different angle

Hapalopus sp. "Colombia Large", unsexed ~1.25" - close-up

"3 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed ~1.5" - the biggest of my quadrouple :)

"3 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed ~1.5" - and so far the only one I rehoused into a bigger cup, although "2 of 4" is next in line for an upgrade after the last molt

Here's all of the others, "1 of 4", "2 of 4" and "4 of 4" - they're growing very slow, eat nicely when hungry and otherwise just turn down food (all of these hatched 08/2011 in Germany)

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed ~1.25" - this is the one that molted a few days ago, great colors now!

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed ~1.25" - different angle

"2 of 4", Euathlus sp. "red", unsexed ~1.25" - close-up

My triplets of Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi (sp. "blue") slings... :)

"No. 1", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - the biggest of the bunch and probably a male hence

"No. 1", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - unattractively brown as slings...

"No. 1", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - kinda reminds me of G. rosea actually :)

"No. 1", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - still cute, though ;)

"No. 2", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - this one is nearly as big, but has a little spunk

"No. 2", Euathlus pulcherrimaklaasi, unsexed ~1.5" - mh yep - spunk! Tried to get my finger! Guess that one is the runt of the litter :D

Unnamed, Avicularia velutina, unsexed, ~1.25" - in premolt and growing the slowest of all Avics I've raised thus far! Insane! Hopefully females both of them!

Unnamed, Avicularia versicolor, unsexed, ~1" - cute as button, right? :)

Unnamed, Avicularia versicolor, unsexed, ~1" - alright, one more of this one

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, unsexed ~2" - one of the triplets I have and all of them in need of a molt

Unnamed, Avicularia geroldi, unsexed ~2" - also were freshly rehoused a couple hours before these pics

That's it for now, folks! Thanks for checking on my thread, appreciated! *bows*

More temptation. Especially the species I can't seem to find here - and currently I'm kind of limited to local sources, can't afford a foreign trip to some bigger expo or so, and having them mail ordered seems too risky (and expensive)

When do versicolors show some bigger colour transformation? Mine is about 2" and still blue as ever, maybe even more sapphire colored than when I got it, after year and a half.

Every single Avic I've raised thus far, started to lose sling colors around 8-9th instar.

That should mean the next moult (which (s)he is due) or the one after. Damn. Gonna miss the blue. Of all the versicolor younglings I've had the chance to see on expos and so, mine is the brightest.

Love your T collection (wish i had it) brilliant pics as always :-D
Thanks, Mark. And nothing prevents you to get more yourself, or is there? :) Also, those Scotophaeus blackwalli are seemingly common over here, too.

Gosh your beautiful A. versicolor makes me want one!

and your Smithi looks so soft and fluffy. Wish they weren't covered with irritating hairs or chompy fangs.

Gorgeous photos!

Thanks, Kat. That smithi girl is actually quite well behaved - at least she doesn't flick usually. Also, like Hydrazine said: Everyone needs A.versiclor! :)

So, I just checked on my T's and a) saw "Asteria" out of her burrow fully (Ephebopus murinus female) after her last molt. She's skittish like crazy now raced around in her enclosure for a minute nearly, then vanished. Obviously spooked her when I turned the light on. Poor girl :(. And b) "Medeia" is molting while I'm writing this, yay! Acanthoscurria geniculata female, she is 6" currently and I'm super-curious how big she'll be once done and hardened up! Exciting! She started like 4 hrs ago, so far not rogress and I'll leave her alone. Gonna check in 10 hrs or so and see how she's doing! Posting pics of them once I can snatch some good ones!

Great updates as ever, and loving the bafflingly slow growth rate of Euathlus sp. red. There is much to admire about creatures that take their time, particularly when they have handsome little orangey bits.

Thanks, mate. I fully agree :)

Thanks, mingu. And yeah, I need to upload some new vids, indeed. Will do so some time this week - promised :)

Soooo "Medeia" molted just fine. Got the old molt out, measured it: 6.5" actually. She looks truely amazing right now and I'm assuming she got done a few hours ago only. Went into hiding when I removed the molt, but came out soon after to peek out of her burrow. Once she stretches out, I'll see if I can measure here. I'm assuming somewhere 7-8" now. Awesome! Makes her my biggest T right now in my collection most likely! Some pictures:

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - the day before she molted she started kicking off her hairs and show me her black abdomen :D

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - Peek-a-boo! :D

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - Peek-a-boo! :D

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - measured old molt 6.5", suspecting her to be around the 7-8" mark now!

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - measured old molt 6.5", suspecting her to be around the 7-8" mark now!

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - Spermathecae

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - molt progression, the size-gain is insane!

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~6.5" before molting - size comparison of the actual molt

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" female - this is the girl that had the dudsac up to a few weeks ago...

"Lin", Avicularia versicolor, ~4" female - despite her small size, she's obviously ready to breed...this is the 3rd T in my collection presenting me a dudsac :D

"Neelam", Homoeomma sp. "blue", ~6.5" MM - quite docile lately, still eats luckily!

"Neelam", Homoeomma sp. "blue", ~6.5" MM - ...and likes to clam very close when I take pics, haha. :D

"Nyx", Grammostola pulchripes, ~6" female - and this is exactly why I don't handle her: Moody! Got this when opening her enclosure to refill waterdish...

"Nyx", Grammostola pulchripes, ~6" female - although she did calm down once she realized I wouldn't mess with her :)

And while I extol the virtues of slow growers, I can't help but be near-maddened with impatience at my G. pulchripes slings, knowing from images like those above what they will turn into some day. Those beautiful gold stripes!

Well, you could always get a juvie. Otherwise: Patience is a virtue my friend :)

As promised, I'm updating on my big, freshly molted girl...she looks breathtaking! And as suspected, keeps her growing to ~1". Measured her from the outside so this is only approx, could be a little less, or even a little more - but boy is she massive now - really impressive looking tarantula.

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~7.5" female - pic was taken through the glass, stretching :)

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~7.5" female - Poecilotheria geniculata...:D

"Medeia", Acanthoscurria geniculata, ~7.5" female - I accidentally breathed into her direction and she moved a little :(

Poecilotheria miranda, suspect female, ~2" - molted last night :)

Poecilotheria miranda, suspect female, ~2" - and another shot. This one is quite calm so far, her suspect sister is hell on legs :D

"Thano", Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.75" MM - obviously wanting to hug me...

"Thano", Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.75" MM - ...and really happy about being disturbed! :D

"Thano", Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.75" MM - "Fine, take your pictures human!"

"Thano", Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (GBB), ~4.75" MM - "Geez, I hate the brightness!"
