My new MM P.Ornata & subadult male P.Ornata

Well I got this MM P.Ornata today and he is pretty big for a male (8") and is very fast (you can see this in the video), I realy like the coloring on him....he has a lot of red hues! The smaller ornata is very docile (for now) and is just gorgeous, he was very calm in the video....but about 1 hour after the video was taken he bolted like lightning, very awesome T....

P.ornata: lovers meet

They were going crazy trying to get to each other, so I cracked the male's shark tank lid to see if they would go for it. He was out and hunting for her in seconds!

HUNTING And DRUMMING

FOUND HER!!

GIVES IT A TRY!

And wusses out :wall:

Not sure if I want to leave him in for the late night randevous, or remove him for a more controlled breeding approach. What do y'all recommend?

I deal with them alot, but I switch it up every now and then just to see which method works best. But I still like everyone's input. Just to see what works best for them.

He has been frozen solid all day! I even misted and he didnt move. Tonight is the last night they are together, then they are getting put into a controlled visit situation. Apparently, he is scared cold of the female and needs more time.

If your lady is anything like mine he has reason to be scared. Mine is a man eater and she isn't gentle about it. The last male spent one night with her and I foolishly tried for a second night. There were legs and other parts of him scattered all over the place. She just tore him to pieces.

Best of luck to you.

Well, its about that time again. The male is in a completely different room, and still drumming like crazy! So back into the shark tank he goes.

I would not shark tank him, just put him straight into her tank and leave the lid off. Then sit back and watch the show.
Good luck I hope he mans up!

P.Ornata pics (may be gravid)

Well I got this 10" Ornata from (Reptist) on 9/12/08 and Reptist stated she had been breed a coulple of times before he had gotton her, I mated her on 10/6/08 - 10/7/09 - 10/17/08 - 10/20/08. She has been eating pretty good but has put on a lot of weight, as you will notice in the pics, she is due for a molt (colors arepretty dull)....so we will see!!

Good luck Rob. I just had my girl drop a sack but my other female that should be prime for breading will have nothing to do with the male. How long since your female last molted?
