They like a hide that is wide at the bottom but narrows toward the top. They seal themselves in and it is the perfect shape for them to make egg sacs.
Just like this. It is sort of like a volcano in the corner. The top is just big enough for them to get in and out.
That is unreal footage!!!! That is how My P.Irminia I mated made her hide??

Fantastic!

Awesome vids! Did you make those hides or did the pokies do that themselves? Also, at around 2:05, what is the one on the left doing? It appears as though she opened the sack.

No the sac was not opened. But she did ditch the sac a day later and I tried to incubate it but they were infertile.

Bummer

I actually got a good sac from P. regalis years ago while at Regal Reptiles; we left the sack with the female for 10 days before pulling it.

The regalis sac is good, it was the striata sac that was bad. That is my 10th regalis sac this year.

Sorry, couldn't tell through the webbing. Did you build those hides or allow the spiders to do it? With your success I'd love to give it a shot some time.

I built them, they modified them. They were put into these setups late in their gestation period. They were only in there maybe a week before they laid their sacs. Before that they were being housed and fed in a 1 gallon jar.

After seeing that vid, I definitely want one as well. Do all pokies get that large?

Post-molt pics of my male sub-adult P. Ornata

Decided to get my male out and get a few post-molt pics of him. He went from 4.75" to 6" with this molt. Look at those legs!!

6" is perfect, according to Ryan (talkenlate04) the smaller females are easier to get a sac.....but my 10" female is gravid and webbing up her hide....my fingers are crossed!!!
