And we almost had an escape - if this little one's leg was longer, it could have reached the handle and taken the lid off it's enclosure!

Titania! She can be a Shakespearean tarantula. (Titania is the fairy queen if memory serves from A Midsommer Night’s Dream.)

Some before and after pics of my 1.0 Pamphobeteus sp. nigricolor, who molted about 2 weeks ago. He was 5.5" DLS before molting, so I'd put him over 6" DLS now (although I haven't been able to retrieve the molt to measure it).

Last set of pics for today...

This is Orien, my little Phidippus audax buddy that I found walking across the workbench in my garage about a year ago. He was tiny, maybe 3mm, and I decided to try to grow him up. Well, he grew up, and became a mature male a few months ago, so now that the weather is warm I decided to release him into my backyard so he could try to find some ladies to hook up with. He'll be fondly remembered!

While walking around a pond in the neighborhood a couple evenings ago, my son and I spotted a bunch of "jewel eye" spiders - which is what we call them because their eyes sparkle like jewels when you hit them with the flashlight. In actuality, they are wolf spiders, Hogna carolinensis, and we found this beauty that looks to be either in heavy premolt or gravid:

0.0.1 Theraphosinae sp. Mishana (suspect female) - approximately 1.75" DLS:

So, I did a dumb thing tonight. I was speed-feeding slings, and after feeding my Davus ruficeps I tried to put the lid back on with one hand (it's a little 5oz deli cup). Needless to say, this didn't go as planned - I flipped the whole cup over and spilled the entire contents onto the shelf and the floor. Dreadfully I started searching for the sling, certain I'd find it in a death curl in a pile of dirt on the floor. I couldn't find it, though, so I stepped back to survey a wider area and happened to catch movement on the front of my chest. I looked down, and there the little sling was, casually walking across the front of my shirt as if it was something it did all the time... I left it there while I reassembled the enclosure, then gently coaxed it back in, right from my shirt front. I'm not sure how it managed to land on my chest while flying through the air, and stuck the landing, but that is exactly what it did! I need to go buy a lotto ticket...

On my chest:

So glad she's OK and seems to not be bothered by her short outing. I have had a similar thing happen speed feeding except it slid as I opened the lid to the vile, like you luckily the sling was fine just sat there still in the vile on the sub that was left .... I no longer do speed runs or use those viles if I can help it , definitely learned my lesson. Think we all do this at some point your not a true t keeper till you accidentally knock over a viv n cr***d yourself that you hurt the t only to have it look at you like your stupid and nothing was wrong 😆 beautiful babba btw
