A few new pics...

The Queen (0.1 Pelinobius muticus, Malkia) requires water:

And when she really requires water:

She's not been out of her burrow in months - looks like she's hydrating in preparation for a molt (good, it's been a long time).

The grass always looks greener on the other side, my friend (0.1 Euathlus truculentus sling, Azure):

I can't get over how pretty this one is - I guess that'll happen when you only ever see it fully out of it's burrow once a year (0.1 Ornithoctoninae sp. Koh Phangan, Shere Khan):

And a couple more pics of Zeus, 1.0 Brachypelma boehmei, looking sharp after his recent molt:

Last set of pics for today...

This is Orien, my little Phidippus audax buddy that I found walking across the workbench in my garage about a year ago. He was tiny, maybe 3mm, and I decided to try to grow him up. Well, he grew up, and became a mature male a few months ago, so now that the weather is warm I decided to release him into my backyard so he could try to find some ladies to hook up with. He'll be fondly remembered!

While walking around a pond in the neighborhood a couple evenings ago, my son and I spotted a bunch of "jewel eye" spiders - which is what we call them because their eyes sparkle like jewels when you hit them with the flashlight. In actuality, they are wolf spiders, Hogna carolinensis, and we found this beauty that looks to be either in heavy premolt or gravid:

0.0.1 Theraphosinae sp. Mishana (suspect female) - approximately 1.75" DLS:

Until next time!
That wolf spider is actually a Tigrosa helluo

Rehoused my 0.0.1 Theraphosinae sp. Mishana (~2.5" DLS) today and got some good pics:

I haven't been able to confirm with a molt, but I'm about 95% sure this is a male based on this ventral pic:
P8290002.JPG

I'm good with that - there's no babies without males!

There's no category for them in the genus galleries, so I'll have to keep posting pics of (him) here.

Technically, he hasn't even been a assigned a genus yet, so I'm not sure I can get a new sub-folder added for him. Like there's not one for Ornithoctoninae, so we usually just post those pics in Ornithoctonus or Cyriopagopus - but I don't even know which existing genus would be close enough to put him in...

Wow special boy then, they need an undescribed spood folder for when ppl have spiders like that, i wonder if they would do that if requested, there must be more then your boy waiting for a full name.
Out of curiosity does he have a female waiting? I assume if your happy with a male you have a lucky lady lined up 😊 just curious how that works if he technically doesn't have a genus, how can you be sure you have the right female, do they look the same or are they dyamorphic? (excuse my bad spelling 😆) sorry alot of questions but rather ask someone who's opinion I trust then Google 😊

That's not a bad idea, actually - an undescribed folder for the gallery. Would help reduce the number of random pics in other folders for sure...

As for a female, no, I don't have one. I believe there are a couple of them in the states, so when this guy matures I should have some interested parties - it's just a matter of finding them. Males and females look the same, and they're undescribed but not unidentified.

She's doing well, thanks for asking! She went on about an 8 month hunger strike, then ate for the first time a few weeks ago. She's now excavating her burrow some more and webbing it closed each day, so I don't know if she's going to molt or what - she has not molted with me in the almost 2 years that I've had her, so I don't know if this is typical premolt behavior for her or not. :) I'll PM you with contact info for a good vendor that has a young female for sale now.

Been a while since I added any pics to this thread, so here goes...

0.1 Psednocnemis brachyramosa, 2.25" DLS. This young lady had me searching for her in my workshop for about 30 minutes before I found her hunkered down under the leg of a table. 🙄
PC010005.JPG

1.0 Selenobrachys sp. Romblon pink, mature male, about 5" DLS. Nobody needs him, unfortunately...
20231202_205516.jpg

0.1 Grammostola sp. concepcion, 1" DLS. This is Nix, the zombie sling, stretching after her molt. She eaten and is doing spider stuff, so looks good for her going forward!
20231126_215703.jpg

0.1 Euathlus truculentus, 1.75" DLS. I'm hoping that after her next molt we'll be able to see some adult coloring coming through.
20231031_170017.jpg

1.0 Kukulcania arizonica MM that I found at work. Crazy looking spiders, thought it was a Loxosceles reclusa at first glance...
20231121_153648.jpg

1.0 Theraphosinae sp. Mishana, 2.5" DLS. He's in premolt now, so he might be an MM in the near future.
20231125_015208.jpg

0.1 Neischnocolus sp. Panama, 1.5" DLS. Having a nice post-molt meal.
20231210_001947.jpg

0.0.1 Liphistius cf yangae "Suwat", 2.25" DLS. Is it a spider or a crab? 😆

Young female Brachionopus pretoriae, just over 2" DLS, and from the looks of that booty she's due for a molt soon.

My big female Megaphobema robustum excavating. The amount of dirt she can move in a short time is impressive...
1000017495.jpg

Little MM Cyriocosmus venezuelenesis, only 1.125" DLS. So cool looking. 😎

Rehoused my young female Tapinauchenius plumipes today, so I snapped some pics. She molted about 2 weeks ago and is still fresh, I just wish the camera could pick up the blue and purple colors better. Oh well, this is better than nothing. 😁

I also took a look at her molt today and got a good shot of the spermathecae...
