Mine took approx. a year to get from a .25" sling to a 5.5" mature male.

I had two male G. auero's at one time for mating purposes. One male was literally 7-8 inches and the other was a mere 4 inches. I don't understand why there would be such a difference. I think Eric might be on with the pushing response.

I suppose the 8 others I have seen could have been pushed to maturity, i.e; kept warm and fed frequently. It's interesting that such a wide margin exists between the sizes of a species mature males.
The last male I had, which matured 3 weeks ago, was barely 4 inches.

It would make an interesting study, nonetheless.
You didn't happen to keep a record of the number of molts to maturity did you? Might be interesting to compare your numbers to those of spiders that matured at a larger size.

Good looking spider, BTW. My male is getting ready to molt and should hit about 6" with this one.

Maybe it has more to do with varied methods of measurement.....
One mans four is another mans six.
Male Measurement Syndrome eh ;)

Eric, I would be shocked myself if a para male was Under 6".....6-7" for me so far...I hope she drops again, I want to top 2600 babies...

I had one that went from 1" to 8+" as a mature male in about 9 months. I fed him every day at least once, and sometimes twice. He was kept at temps around 25c+. In my experience "power feeding" results in larger specimens.

A day late Tom.
The girl the smaller 1 (4 inch) was in with ate him.
But it seems with the posts thus far that the smaller males I have seen are the exception, not the rule.
Live and learn.

females stop eating before they lay eggs. I wouldn't give up hope until she actually molts.

Oh, and that was a different male I was refering too.

Indeed that's quite the large Male L. parahybana, I'd love to see.

Wow I can not wait until mine gets that big. I got to see the leg rubbing thing today as I was moving it to a new container. It was face down in the borrow shaking it's hind. It did not loose any hair though. I now know just put the small container in the big one and wait.
