I was digging around for some research on this one (because I LOVE Avics, naysayers be webbed!) and I was reading the Avic renaming article and it seems to say these are actually A. Rufa, which I happen to have two of! Here's hoping at least one is a lady :D

From the article:
"Thus, A. aurantiaca is likely to be a junior synonym of A. rufa. However, as there is no holotype and the description does not allow for a precise identification and characterization of the species, the name Avicularia aurantiaca Bauer, 1996 is considered, herein, as nomen dubium."

Phormictopus auratus has made it to the top of the list for the next spider I'm getting. The dark coloring of the legs and abdomen against the golden carapace is just amazing :)

I have had her for several years. Originally it was sold as P. platus. She has been a wonderful, feisty girl.

Says right there they're just guessing. I see alot more people labelling them A juruensis M1.

Acanthogonatus francki, the Chilean Gold Dust Spider - not a tarantula but close! I don’t have one yet so I can’t share any photos, but they’re worth looking into. :)

I actually own a Chaco Golden Knee tarantula (it’s a sling) and I have gotta say they’re absolutely amazing. Mine was actually comfortable with me as I let it crawl on my hand. It didn’t move, or did a threat pose whatsoever. So in my perspective these are the absolute best tarantulas anybody can ever own that’s for sure

Poecilotheria regalis - not exactly a sparkly gold but they're got the bright yellow markings on their legs. And I'd say gold is a 'regal' color ;)

EDIT: Didn't notice this was an old thread brought back to life until it was too late.

Beware, tarantula behaviors can change from molt to molt. The calm sling you have now could molt and become more high strung. It's in the T's best interest not to handle regardless. That said, G pulchripes is the only T I've ever handled and it went well (one time occurence over 10 years ago)

oh that I know of. Believe me. I’ve gotten mine last month. And I’ve gotta say I’m really loving my baby as it is now. But can’t wait for the results of it getting bigger as time progresses. So with that being said. I can face whatever molt my T throws at me that’s for sure. (Not being cocky or conceited)

I'm going to join in this old thread!

Theraphosidae sp lowland gold.

Mine are just slings, but beautiful, with a pretty gold mirror patch.
