Hey guys,

As part of my collection I some day want to get all the tarantulas with gold/golden in their common name (or if something in their Latin name translates) since my last name is Golden and I'm slightly vain in that fashion.

Here are the ones I know of, please let me know if there are any others and I wouldn't mind any personal experience with these species shared as I own none of them.

EDIT FOR ADDITIONS (so I have an easier list to look at)

Grammostola Pulchripes - Chaco GOLDEN Knee

Harpactira Pulchripes - GOLDEN Blue Leg Baboon

Aphonopelma Moderatum - Rio Grande GOLD

Neoholothele Incei (gold) - Trinidad Olive - GOLD Form

+Cyriopagopus Schmidti - Chinese Giant Gold

+Phormictopus Auratus

+Chaetopelma Olivaceum - Middle East Gold

+Ornithoctonus Aureotibialis - Thai Golden Fringe

+Brachypelma Auratum

+Dolichothele Auratum

+Phormictopus sp. Santiago del Cuba

+Phormictopus sp. El Salvador

+Phormictopus sp. 'Green femur' (has a gold carapace)

+Phormictopus sp. 'Gold Carapace'

+Selenogryus Aureus

Thanks for any help! :)

Totally wrote M. Balfouri instead of this one, oh gosh. I have updated my list to reflect, thanks for the catch!
I thought the balfouri looked a little out of place lol. Still a must have for your collection, even if it doesn't have "gold" in the name.

Adding Phormictopus auratus.
Auratus=Latin for gold.
C. olivaceum (middle east gold)
Ornithoctonus aureotibialis (Thai golden fringe)

Phormictopus sp. Santiago del Cuba
Phormictopus sp. El Salvador
Phormictopus sp. ‘Green femur’ (has a gold carapace)
Phormictopus sp. ‘Gold Carapace’

Can you tell what genus is my favorite?

Selenogyrus aureus

And definitely google genus Fufius, althought not theraphosid, still mygalomorph and there are literally golden ones.

So you don't want the Ts themselves to be gold-esque in colour... just the common name to have "gold" or some such in it?

Brachypelma auratum
Dolichothele auratum
What is the B. auratum common name? Because there is NOTHING "gold" about that spider...

mexican flame knee, but according OP scientific names count too (even if I agree that it is not the most fitting one)

Ahh, I missed the bit about scientific names counting too. Makes no sense to me, but alright. Lol

I would prefer that they have something gold about them, but since common names can change from one country to another or might be deceptive I wanted to include spiders with Latin root names as well, also might be fun to have a shelf of some "Latin Language Gold". Mostly just trying to suss out what my choices are and figure out how I want to go about adding to my collection from there.

I appreciate all the input so far, way more than I would have guessed at! Looks like I need to plan for more shelving space ^_^

Selenotypus sp. “gold” and Selenotypus champagne robustus can be pretty gold. Might depend on where the line is drawn between gold and golden brown

I forgot one - Brachypelma aureoceps ("golden-headed") :)
Last time I heard this might not even be an actual species, it might be a hybrid or just an individual released in the Florida Keys. There was only one female holotype collected/found so I'm a bit skeptical.
