This one is a yellow banded (A. aurantiaca). The A. huriana have shortened and less curly hairs. This one has longer hairs all over the T like the B. albopilosum Curlyhairs.

yep....as the norm goes for Avic's! :?

some of them look very familiar and close in characteristics to one another.

I keep seeing the A. huriana pics onlne and they lack the bright yellow bands that mine has. I may have no taken the pics in the right lighting. The yellow bands are very noticeable.

If the A. huriana and A. aurantiaca have the yellow bands....what makes them different and how can you tell them apart? :wall:

The carapace is a good indicator here look at pic's of the "real" aurantiaca (Martin's pic's) and Ray believed to be one on tho’s links (he thinks not now) you will see a big difference then compare this spider with pic’s of A.huriana (also on some of the threads).

You could say the same thing about many of the "Red leg" type Brachy's too no?.

I would have to say that yer right Frylock! I have seen many pics and I am thinking some of them are mislabeled too. I am finding more pics of the Avicularia huriana and I do agree that mine looks like that sp.

Eitherway..... I brought her home tonight to add to my collection.

Nice buy Chris... it's a sweet spider regardless.

Check out my A. huriana HERE . That's a freshly molted shot.

To those of you who commented above about this spider... what do you guys think of THIS GIRL??
Same spider, 1 molt earlier... HERE . Notice there are 3 red hash marks on the carapace at this stage.

That spider was purchased as "A. purpurea" while it was ~2.5" in size. It's a very interesting looking spider.

Another shot of my versi:

She has sealed her web now for about 3 weeks so I expect her to molt every day. Will put up new pics when she finished.

Freshly moulted A.geroldi sling.
She's just started to get her adult colours.
Yay, she's going blue :D and look at those little pink toes

Got an A. avic from YZFR1 today. He's a cute little guy. Not too jumpy, but pretty quick. Webbing up his enclosure right now.

First pic is kinda blurry, but I couldn't get any clear ones with him on my hand (plus he wouldn't stand still).
