Eeeeewwww! You're right, it does look like the tip of a thumb... Thanks, I'll not be taking many more pics of pinky-fests. Now we just get caligulathegod to photoshop them and add to his picture thread
Below are photos of 2 specimens of Acanthoscurria insubtilis.
The first one (smaller, ~2.5") is CB and I've raised it from a 0.25" sling. It's what has been sold as A. insubtilis in the states for the past few years.
The second one (larger, female, ~5") I got from someone who WC the spider in Paraguay... I've had her for a few years.
Wow GoTerps, the second spider looks just like mine. She is unidentified at this time, but what do you think, they look pretty darn similar huh? Yours just looks a little bigger and darker. Here's a pic of mine, after the E. campestratus. I've been calling her an unidentified Acanthoscurria sp. http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showpost.php?p=480267&postcount=78
Well, there are lots of Acanthoscurria that look very much alike, especially in pictures.... so I don't even want to go there!! Many species that resemble each other (to the naked eye) all over SA.
Where did you get the spider from, and as what?
Also, you might as well call mine unidentified as well... I just know it was collected from an area where A. insubtilis can be found... and the person who collected in believed that's what it was... eh.
