I've never seen A. gomesiana before, nice sp. Is it just the light or does it have a purple tint?

Thank you very much!!!

Socrates>>>The first time I introduced the male was in the end of may/beginning in June. The male inserted both palps. A few days later, he built a new spermweb and I introduced him to the female. This time she was a little more hostile but I think he inserted one palp, but I'm not sure...I tried again the next day and the female was very willing, but changed her plans rapidly and he became food.

I did'nt do very much actually, besides offering food almost every day and after about eight weeks I increased the humidity level at that time she started to web alot.

Yes, they get very large sacks with ALOT of slings. I'm very glad that I'll share 50/50 with the guy I borrowed the male from. To many slings to care for...:)

Thanks for the info, Aftershock. :)

I bred my A. geniculata 4 months ago, and even though her booty isn't quite as large as your girl's, it's getting pretty close.

I'll try and increase the humidity and keep my fingers crossed from thereon out.

How long did you leave the eggsack with the mum? I thought that when you open it, the eggs should be hatching.
Are they on a hamock?

Am I the only one here... that thinks it's really sad that the male died... There was no way to save him?

I suppose in the wild that many more males get eaten by the females than they do in captivity. There are a lot of theories going around to say that eating the male could possibly help the female to produce eggs etc however I personally don't think that's the case.

I doubt as many males get eaten in the wild actually, though I have nothing at all scientific to back that up.
But in captivity, they are in an exclosure, his instinct its to bolt right after - and in the wild he has somewhere to go. ;)

Good luck Aftershock! Väldigt bra pictures, I hope the sac produces for you. :)

I currently have had a pair of geniculatas cohabitating for nearly a week without violent incident. I will remove the male today, I think.

Quite a nice show!

The female doesn't mind you taking all those pictures???
I would think she performs better when she is not disturbed at all :?

Today my A. Geniculata molted, and it turns out to be a female :D
I think she is now about 5.5"-6" . They are one of my favorate. Very nice coloring (in my opinion)

Here are some pictures.
