Getting tagged by the world's deadliest scorpion
Bite/Sting Date
11/24/2024
Pain Level
Moderate pain.
Circumstance
I reared up some Hottentotta tamulus from 4i/5i with the purpose of getting stung. I fed them on a diet of Dubia roaches that had been gutloaded protein powder in order to increase the potency of their venom.
Size
Maybe 8-9 centimeters...ish?
Damage
No actual physical damage
Symptoms
After getting stung by my big female, I felt a sharp stinging pain in my finger, which continued to intensify over the next few minutes and spread up my arm. I feel like maybe it spread up to my shoulder along with a little bit of numbness. I did start sweating. But all in all, it was rather anticlimactic and rather disappointing. They must have been from a high elevation cause I've been stung Androctonus australis (Egyptian locale), Androctonus bicolor, Leirus quinquestriatus, and now Hottentotta tamulus (as well as the little Southern devil scorpion, which I caught) and this was honestly the mildest (with the exception of the little Southern devil scorpion, which was a complete joke). Oh well.
Medical Attention
My mom did end up figuring out i'd been stung because I teased her by asking her why I was sweating. So she already knew. But then she heard me watching the video and she had proof so she called my dad and they threatened to take away the scorpions if I didn't go to the hospital. So I ended up going. And they took me there and the hospital called poison control. So they took some vitals, drew some labs, and sent me back home.
Lingering effects
My finger felt slightly sensitive for a little over 24 hours.
You know, I never understood this review section or what I'm supposed to be rating, but if it's the sting itself, I'd give it maybe a 2/10. Pretty disappointing.
