If you're seeing flies then they're maggots. I've got them in most of my wet terrariums. Really the only to get rid of them all is to change ALL your humid species substrates.
I doubt they could/would "infect" your scorpion. If they have then it already is. If you're worried about it the best...
Depending on what your requirements are, it's usually best to make your own rack. Most rack systems I've seen are pretty expensive.
I'd go for the cheap plastic shoeboxes, a melanine rack, some heat tape, and a thermostat.
As for substrate you can get pretty creative. I was housing 8 V. caro's...
I don't know if that sounds good. I don't think you can do much of anything other than wait and see. Sorry about yout little guy.
By "mboro" do you mean Murfreesboro?
You should pick a couple of those mushrooms before the caps open. That way all the spores are still trapped in. You can then dry the mushrooms and store/sell(*hint* *hint* :D ) them. To "plant" again all you'd have to do is crumble up a mushroom. Nice pics too btw!
Hmm, I thought something was wrong... (<--- :liar: )
Thanks for the info!

Same spider different names? Seems like it.
The Evil Cat Lords, of Spiders Taste Good, tried to destroy this Unknown Spider, the Unfailing Cricket Destroyer. Perhaps a H. carolinensis?
While having a little silly fun, it's also no joke. My cats do like to eat spiders, and this little bugger murders crickets. I dropped one in there...
If you can wrangle any little lings into vials you could probably cover the tops with cheesecloth and just rubber band it shut.
In my old house we had "freerange" jumping spiders. She had the coolest greenish blue chelicerae. She eventually poped and a couple months later I saw teeny little...
I've heard some Aphonopelma sp. can live for nearly 60 years.
I'm not 100% sure how long scorps live for. I've got a P. imperator I've had since it was born. At around 3in she's about 5 years old. So I'm guessing 10-15 years? I had a big, maybe 6-7in, emperor that lived with me for over a...
Little update.
I got 8 of these little buggers when I first posted this. Due to unknown causes 5 have died  I've talked it over with who I bought them from and I've narrowed the cause down to either their substrate or the termites I've been feeding them. The most likley culprit...
I used to keep B. dubia a couple years ago. I don't remember having any problem with my males dieing. What substrate are they on? What to you have in the tank? Hopefully you've got some nymphs running around in there already! I might try and catch some and move them to a new container with all...
Kind of off topic but, where'd you get the little guy? I just love it when I see "Desert Scorpion"/"Bark Scorpion"/"Forest Scorpion" and the like on a suppliers list. It's kind of like a grab bag, you're not really sure what you're going to get!
A good place for some really cool terrarium/vivarium ideas is:

I was going to make a 20H into a dart frog tank but, my saltwater tank ate all my money :wall:
Each of my little containers has the obligitory "leaf and stick." I'm going to seperate them soon though, at least until they're older. That way, like cacoseraph said, it'd also be easier to track moulting etc. Wish I had a macro lens! I'm trading in all my salt water stuff @ the local pet store...
I'm not anywhere close to an expert but maybe V. coahuilae? Seems around the right size. Neat little fella!
whoops, edited
