Do Chilobrachys sp. Sai Yok's legs turn blue when they reach maturity? I don't know as much about OW species compared to NW, and most of the pics I could find of this species feature a spider whose colors resemble an OBT or T. Blondi. An attractive spider, for sure, but not especially colorful. However, scattered among the photos are occasional shots of a specimen with a similar tan/orange Cephalothorax and abdomen color, but dark blue legs. Is that the same species? If so, I can understand why you're so excited for her to come out and show 'em off.

Two tonight. Rescue Rita, my Grammastola Iheringi has successfully moulted and she is stunning. Inky black. Iโ€™m super glad as I knew nothing about her. And my Boehmei has just settled into her hammock.

Maleficent moulted! Pamphobeteus machala saf full adult colours now black as night and so beautiful. I will miss her pink legs but she's stunning, looks like everything went well she put on quite a bit if size but I don't have dls yet she's still got her foot rested on the moult but going to guess at 5inch she will need a rehouse lol.
The beautiful lady herself.

Angle isn't great but she's behind the fern n I wasn't moving her viv.
I truly love this girl can't believe how different she is from the tiny 2cm sling she used to be. She's perfect ๐Ÿฅฐ.
Well done my beautiful lady, you smashed it ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ’ช โค

Luca (Grammastola pulchra) molted yesterday. I was able to see the whole process for the first time, as he did it out in the open instead of away in the burrow.

Heโ€™s now 3 inches in DLS. I was able to get the molt, but you can see in the first picture that his molt split right up the abdomen, making it challenging to determine sex. I did my best, and between that and ventral examination, Iโ€™m reasonably certain that he is indeed a male.

Heโ€™s so beautiful and black now, and I love the post-molt spider yoga phase.

She looks gorgeous. Being able to see their colors and patterns after a molt is so rewarding. I just had all four of my Ts molt within two weeks of each other and it's been quite joyful. Just as spring arrives, too. It was my first molt since I started keeping tarantulas in November of last year. Having them all do it at the same time was a little stressful, but now that it's over and I know what to expect in the future, I'm really enjoying their increase in size and how bright their colors are. It is so awesome to see them undertake this grueling ritual, and the relief when they do it without any problems is exhilarating.

Keeping tarantulas is so rewarding and the post-molt period may be the most rewarding time of all. It means your husbandry was good enough for the spider to do what it does naturally and come out healthy and changed from their metamorphosis. Their colors are extra bright, and the increase in size when you have slings and juvies is really encouraging as you start to see it mature in small ways.

Please post another photo of her with a little less zoom. I'd love to see a shot of her that is a closeup, but shows her whole body and a little space around her for context.

I am SO happy for you! Mine molted 10 days ago and just had her first meal this evening. Isn't it amazing to watch them grow?

So, yours molted out in the open!? That's wild.

Haha, reading your post, you sound just like me. I also feel this immense feeling of gratitude and pride, with all my spiders molting within a couple weeks of each other. Seeing them all out at the same time leaves me spellbound.

I'm glad to read some progress about Luca. I love the photos.

It feels like Christmas when they molt! Sybil (in my profile pic) is going to molt soon too, but โ€œsoonโ€ can mean a lot of things with Brachypelmas, haha! She has been further excavating her Dirt Palace, digging new chambers. I can even see her previous molt pasted into the wall of her new chamber like a gruesome gargoyle, and I love it so much. She has her own little temple in there.

And my Cyriocosmus elegans has started using her burrow and making a dirt curtain in front of it with web and soil, so while sheโ€™s not fully closed off yet, I expect she will be soon and that sheโ€™ll be going through the great transformation before too long.

Such beautiful creatures.
