Just got this T for a steal yesterday as the owner was frustrated by it's lack of eating.

Well, here's why... it was in premolt.
Quite obviously to me, but am still surprised it's molting the day after I got it. Hopefully I can sex the molt.

ETA: Several hours later and she hasn't made any progress. Hope all goes well! I've never had a T this big molt. Not sure if taking a long time is normal..

Growouts in the sling racks were scheduled for their husbandry rounds today. There's definently been some growth this past week with the increased temps lol.
  • 0.0.1 Avicularia avicularia M2 (ex A. braunshauseni)
  • 0.0.2 Avicularia minatrix
  • 0.0.2 Avicularia rufa
  • 0.0.1 Birupes simoroxigorum
  • 0.0.1 Chilobrachys sp Orange

Broodstock and juvenile growouts get their weekly care tomorrow and I'm already seeing about 3 molts to pull.

Morning checks done and I have had 3 sling tings pop since yesterday morning.

Don Juan Theraphosinae sp Dorado 1.5 inches Dls on the moult and no idea if we are male or female but there is definitely some sort of jelly bits there. There is no reference pic for this sp. 20240504_070452.jpg 20240504_080813.jpg

Cybill Thrixopelma cyaneolum and after this moult am pretty sure we are a male ending my run of Thrixopelma females (6 Thrixopelma 5 females to this one male) idm though he is so spunky I love him anyways 😊 again 1.5 inch dls on the moult.

Last but not least Lucille, Psalmopoeus ecclesiasticus 2 inches dls on the moult and definitely female and big enough for her juvenile viv now pretty glad as you can see she webs alot making it difficult to get a clear pic 😊

Ephebopus murinus, Kuyuri, opened the threads guarding her web tunnel and emerged with longer, fuzzier legs and a smaller booty. Hasn’t tossed the molt out, which is unusual for her. Assuming it’s become part of her burrow.

The new pampho molted and made an appearance. Went from brown to black. People weren't kidding when they said these Ts have some interesting color change from molt to molt!
She is a stunning velvet black!
