Also confirmed female:

My adult female Psalmopoeus victori finally molted this morning, too. Hopefully I can get her feed up and ready to pair before the MM peters out.

She's in there, freshly molted - you will just have to trust me on that. 😆

With the new kit, you're probably going to start trying to sex every molt now lol, regardless of size.
I tried to sex a molt from a Cyriocosmus sp. oronegro sling that was less than 3/8" DLS. I managed to get it spread out, but even with max zoom I couldn't make out anything useful. So, I need to get some higher powered eye pieces and objective lenses, 😆. Knowing the sex of a 3/8" sling is ridiculous, though... Isn't it?

Yesterday and this morning...
20240415232314_IMG_4833.JPG GBB-Bumblebee ~3" the blue has really started showing, gorgeous T no way around it.

Ornithoctonus aureotibialis-Goose ~0.75" probably my favourite species ATM, they are so flippin cool. Goose is tiny and yet was chasing down every bit of movement in the enclosure 🤣. I seriously love these T's so much. 20240417224602_IMG_4836.JPG

It sure helps line up and lock in future breeding projects when you can figure out the sex ratio that small. It's pretty rarefied air when talking about the people who can consistently and accurately sex slings sub-0.5" DLS though, especially the more tropical genera as they tend to have MUCH thinner abdominal skin that's easily torn when untangling the molt when compared to desert genera, atleast IME.

Within the past week or so:
  • 0.0.3 Tapinauchenius violaceus
  • 0.0.1 Tapinauchenius sanctivincenti
  • 0.0.4 Poecilotheria rufilata
  • 0.0.1 Ornithoctonus aureotibialis
  • 0.0.1 Ornithoctoninae sp Ho Chi Minh
  • 0.1 Aphonopelma sp Michoacan
  • 0.1 Pelinobius muticus
  • 1.0 Avicularia variegata
  • 0.1 Psalmopoeus victori
  • 0.1 Ornithoctoninae sp Hati Hati
Food for thought here, I posted this on 5/29/23 and recorded a large mature female Aphonopelma sp Michoacan molting for the first time in my care (she actually molted on 5/24). That same female just molted again today and went off food maybe 5 weeks in the past year. This is likely a WC animal over 10 years old that is now on a yearly molt schedule with little to no premolt in captivity and she's not alone in my collection. I now have 4 WC adult Aphonopelma females on yearly molt schedules, including one that bred and produced a captive eggsack. I'm getting more and more convinced there is something terribly wrong with our base of knowledge for this genus in captivity.

Swap her to the same substrate you use for the everetti, just with half the moisture.

Thanks - I'll give it a shot. I don't remember what substrate mix I used for her - it was a while ago, but It probably doesn't have as much organic material in it as my current mix does, and it definitely doesn't hold moisture as well. I live in the Rio Grande valley so I could just go get some of the dirt that these Rio Grande Gold tarantulas live in naturally (although I'm a few hours north of their range, lol). I just need her to molt sometime soon so I can pair her with the MM I've got waiting! She wasn't in the mood when I tried a week ago...
