B. klaasi molted today, with a b. emilia & c. versi molting on friday that makes 3 molts in under 3 days, something must've been in the air this weekend lol. Praying this one hasn't destroyed their molt so I can finally sex them 🤞

My old lady Tliltocatl verdezi molted a few hours ago. She:
  • Molted upright
  • Rolled over onto her side after her patella cleared
  • Then finally flipped onto her back, only to right herself
  • Has pulled her exuvia under her (edited to add: I like to dribble some water on it before they start eating it, but not if I can't do it without disturbing them)
  • She decided to do all of this after my old lady Brachypelma boehmei flipped, who was already taking forever
My old lady Aphonopelma chalcodes molted upright a few months ago as well, but laid no molt mat whatsoever. The T verdezi at least made an attempt to pull the place together. I've been worried sick for a few hours, and will continue to do so for a few weeks. Old tarantulas molting stresses me out and I don't see that going away, I see it getting worse as I watch them grow older.

Molts by some tiny ones today:

0.0.1 Avicularia rufa, close to 1" DLS:

0.0.1 Ceratogyrus brachycephalus, maybe 3/4" DLS (you can see a little bump, though!):

0.0.1 Theraphosidae sp. "kolumbia", 1/2" DLS:

That last one had me nervous - it was on it's side and unresponsive for a LONG time, lol.

Also had a molt from 0.0.1 Eucratoscelus pachypus sling, getting close to 3/4" DLS now.

Came home and found extra legs in my versi’s enclosure. Too heavily webbed walls to see if he made it fully out okay. 🤞 This molt should put him/her at a rehouse. If I’m lucky, I’ll get to sex this molt, too. Double 🤞

Update: bit of a bummer I'm afraid. Got the molt out from the b. klaasi & its confirmed male, can't say that's what I was hoping for but that's not what has got me bummed out. It seems as though the b. emilia has suffered a pretty rough molt, and upon inspection (after emerging partially from her burrow), her abdomen is a bit disfigured and she has lost at least 1 leg, possibly 2 (though I'm more concerned about the abdomen than the legs, this girl has lost legs before as I remember she came to me with one partly regrown). She has had a drink so that's positive at least, I'll update with what happens in future.

Moltapalooza at my place right now (thanks Spider Wrangler for that term). Couple weeks ago, H pulchripes molted, this week C versicolor molted, today I come home to E murinus old clothes thrown out on the front porch and finally see a bit of a bright red butt and longer, velvety, black legs of G ihrengi that had been in hiding for near a month now. Still haven’t seen P irminia yet. May have to peek on on her tomorrow.

Seraphina my Homoeomma chilensis sling has moulted again I was told these grow slow but the last moult date was August the 31st so not that long compared to others I keep. (Looking at u chalcodes.) Not the best pic but looks like all went well. 20231028_172521.jpg

And my gripe for today a while ago I ordered a coloratovillosus female, I was sent a chromatis by accident but was guaranteed the chromatis was a she so I kept her. Second moult in my care first time moult was trashed second... 20231028_183733.jpg
Yep that's a 4.2 inch male 😒 so not only was I sent the wrong sp but she's a he to boot. Everything went well with the moult though, so at least I can be grateful for that.

Well done little ones, yous smashed it 😊

To my complete shock and awe, I believe my P irminia either molted twice since I’d seen her out last, if that’s even possible on one cricket, or grew a massive 1.25”+ in a single molt.
When I last saw her out, around 3”:

Not having seen even toes for weeks and her hunting hole webbed over for 6ish weeks, I decided to check on her. I knew they grew fast, but I am floored. She has shot up to be my largest spider right now at 4.25-4.5”. I think I’ll skip the next enclosure I had for her and go straight to her forever home.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but she really looks like a mature male. I might be wrong, but from what I can see of the pedipalps and extremely long, fuzzy legs, I'm thinking it is a male that had his ultimate molt. That kind of size gain is typical of an ultimate molt, as well... Hopefully I'm seeing things, though.

Little Homoeomma orellanai sling molted last night. It actually looks bigger, which is good, but it's still less than 1/2" leg span...

Las year also did a great job leaving another perfect molt, so this year tried to do my first attemp at taxidermy, and it came almost perfect for me.

This goes to my mother's living room 🤣🤣🤣
All hail 🙌
N 😁 I wouldn't worry I have a Grammostola ihiringhi moult in a frame in my mums kitchen 😆 she was rather partial to him so I made her a shadow box with his last moult with me in it. (He went for breeding.) It's a great way to use up moults imo and that's a really good one . Congratulations on your girl moulting and on your creation its really cool 😎

My girl Amaterasu did the same, went from 3inches to about 4.2 inches on one moult, I was told like most psalmo they have a growth jump around 3inches. 🤞 you can find the moult n then know gender too 😊. My victorii moults every 4-5 weeks, so dose my smaller pulcher so isn't unheard-of for them to moult so close together. If your little one was well fed before a moult they can easily only take 1 food item n moult again, one of my curly hairs has just done this, my male Cupcake moulted took one Mario n went straight back into premoult and took 6 months to moult instead of the 13 months his previous moult took but only ate once . He lost no abdomen size, (he is still Cupcake with EXTRA frosting 😆) he also went from about 3 inches to 4 yet the moult before only went from 2.7 to 3. I found it fascinating too tbh but was informed most t's have a growth spurt at some point in their lives, idk if there has ever been real research done on it but it's what I was told n makes sense to me, all creatures go through a gangly stage at some point so makes sense spiders/t's would too 🤷🏻‍♀️either way congratulations lol 😊

I think my smaller P. irminia "Spunk" pulled a similar size increase and floof explosion...was loafing around in the webbed-over water dish at 9, and four hours later suddenly sporting enormous legs and a serious floof alert.
1000010838.jpg

Before and after -- so I know this is definitely a single molt.
1000010848.jpg

The pipe-cleaner quality of those legs did give me a moment of pause... I've only had this one a year, will be a little sad if this was actually a maturing molt.
