This is actually interesting topic. I knew a guy that had huge snake collection, most of the highly venomous species. He died in a car crash and his parents donated the whole collection to a zoo.

I have talked to my nephew and my sister about selling them or giving them away, but this thread reminds me to make a list whom to contact and so on... All the enclosures are labeled with the species at least, so at least they will know what they are dealing with. Red warning signs for some species will be a good idea, too...
I actually worry more about what will happen to my cats. They will probably have to go to a shelter :(

My husband would take care of ours, but now that you bring it up, I should start making some really, really detailed care sheets.

Aw... aside for my joke of before, this thread is a bit sad uh.

In general young people (or still considered young) talking about that inevitable subject leads me to remind to you this:

" Vivi come se tu dovessi morire subito. Pensa come se tu non dovessi morire mai. "

You suckers figure it out. I'm going to live forever.
After collapsing both lungs and being resuscitated I do kinda feel immortal most days. :D

In all honesty though my sisters know extensively of my collection and have instruction on what to do with all the pets in the pet room should I kick it.

In my will I take care of what to do with me and all the rest of my property.

I guess if I have any valuable specimens, they can be sold and that money would go to my daughter's college fund.

I should probably contact the people I have in mind now. It would probably have to be people geographically close to me, since my family members don't even want to hear me talk about tarantulas so shipping is out of the question.
Having multiple people who are willing to take the Ts is also probably a good idea. Things change, the people who are willing or able to take on more Ts may not be able to do so in the future.

Honestly I never thought about it, but I'd probably have to put something in my will because I know no one in my family would care for them. I'd probably have any of my friends who are interested get first dibs on which ever one they wanted and any that are left over are to be donated to a zoo that knows how to care for them so they can serve as educational animals for children.

Anyway, has anyone else made arrangements for their Ts?
My husband says he would probably keep caring for the shorter-lived ones like my juvenile Avicularia avicularia, but he'd sell the others (hopefully to good homes). He likes them, but mostly to the extent that I do most of the maintenance.

If we both are killed? Some relative would probably post them on Craigslist.

Cremation ad?? :rofl::rofl::rofl:
What in the heck?? You are still so so young, love! This sight needs to strengthen their advertisment algorithms a tad, yeah??
Anyone else getting that foreverspin spinning tops ad? What makes them think I'm the kind of person who would spend that much on a spinning top? LOL

Bug bomb? How about a flame thrower instead. Thankfully one of my younger siblings may take over my collection but I highly doubt he would keep them all. Just about every one else would take a flame thrower to it though....:(

My pet holes would probably still be good by the time they find me dead, even if it's more than two weeks. I'd probably donate them to a zoo, and I'd give my more dangerous species to the Australian reptile park so they can be used for antivenom.

When I grow old, I'll probably sell my collection. I wouldn't even realistically be able to keep up with a bunch of probably fast defensive tarantulas at an advanced age anyway, and a bite from an old world could be very dangerous to an old man. But that won't be for a long time.

Who are the T people in New Orleans? If I croak, the executors of my will will be in touch. BF has dibs on my dog, tho.

I think my GF would either take care of them herself, or take them to Anastasia, who she really liked when we met her last month at a Reptile Expo.
Update: I straight up asked my GF what she would do with them if I died. She said she would give the slings away to Anastasia, and keep Legs and Daisy (the adults) herself. So each of my two guesses was partially correct.

I imagine my wife would probably try to give some away. There is a monthly show 25 minutes from our house that usually has a couple of T dealers. She's gone with me before so she'd probably take them there. I have no formal arrangement though.
