I found one of my female Ornithoctoninae sp. Hana on a sac yesterday.

That would be awesome if I had paired her with my MM. I hadn't, though, because he only matured in December and she was due for a molt 2 months ago...

Anyways, I pulled the sac today in hopes that she'll molt soon enough for him to do his duty. It's a cute little thing:

I can't believe she had all 25 of these little eggs inside her:

Better luck next time, I guess!

Not been on here for ages, so busy, but back now. Just rehoused three - Brachypelma hamorii, Thrixopelma pruriens and Harpactira pulchripes. All juvenile females. More rehousings to come next weekend when my new enclosures arrive.

Winter is slowly coming to an end.

we have had some warmth and rain. The sun is up late, and the houses heating system isnt on as much.

i have an over 4ā€ affirmed mature female g pulchripes.

she has been sealed in her cork hide tunnel for months. Even my attemps at adding some moisture to lower sub levels, did not spark any changes.

until yesterday. About a week ago, i added some water to sub. Everything is always dry. The house is so bone dry i have nose bleeds. While i always have water bowls, and a moist corner, i decided to do my seasonal ā€œmake it rainā€ session. It wasnt a storm, just enough to moisten the bottom of enclosure.

last night, my g pulchripes had opened up her burrow, legs were sticking out fully. Just like i always loved to see during summer.

this morning, she was deeper in her hide, but legs still sightly out.

i hope my logic of weather changes is in the works. To me this is a great sign. I missed seeing a sign of life. Spring is here!

Well, here's 1300 prepped shipping vials for this year. I likely won't have an issue getting them filled lol, might even have to order more. A lot of new projects for me are finally lining up this year, so this should be quite challenging and engaging. So far:
  • Poecilotheria subfusca LL - Paired
  • Haplopelma doriae - Paired
  • Chilobrachys sp South Thailand Blue - Paired
  • Orphnaecus dichromatus - Paired
  • Avicularia hirschii - Paired
Still left to pair this week or next:
  • Aphonopelma sp Dragoons
  • Ornithoctoninae sp Vietnam Silver
  • Ornithoctoninae sp Ho Chi Minh
I also have the option to pair Phormingochilus sp Sabah Blue and Cilantica psychedelicus currently, however I will likely wait until the latter half of the year for those projects.

This week, 2 of my mature male Phormingochilus sp. Sabah reds were successfully paired to 2 adult females. First documented pairings of this species in the US. Hopefully we'll get sacs soon and this species will be available in the market later this year. šŸ¤ž

Just some quick pics while running through husbandry tasks today...

0.1 A. sp Dragoons. Freshly molted, back on food, and with a willing and able suitor waiting in the wings. This has to be my favorite Aphonopelma species lol.

20250322_130237.jpg
0.1 Chilobrachys natanicharum. I'm fairly certain she's a WC female as it took her almost two molt cycles to adapt to her enclosure and start heavily webbing it up, but she's there now.

20250322_130953.jpg
0.1 Chilobrachys sp Orange, likely going to drop a phantom in the next few weeks as I couldn't refuse her food this last molt cycle lol. Some of these Chilos can be a pain to establish, but once they have that heavy webbing deployed, they are extremely confident as it greatly enhances their sensory perception.

20250322_134117.jpg
0.1 O. sp Sumatran Tiger. This girl is a beast and I've sort of nicknamed her "Freight Train". There's nothing for scale, but she's around 8" and is the most food motivated specimen I have. When I have visitors to the facility, she's usually one that will be fed for guests because she will reliably run out of her hide at a roach like a freight train every time lol.

0.1 Lampropelma nigerrimum. I've had this female for a long time. She was a gift from a fellow board member, but I rarely get pics as she's the most light sensitive specimen I have. Here she is thinking about it......

20250322_133009.jpg
Still thinking about it..... Man, that light is bright..... Maybe if I just move quick.....

20250322_133020.jpg
Haha, got it with minimal light exposure! Wait, why is the light following me now.... Quick, back to the batcave!

Both of my plump G. pulchra sub adults refused food 2 weeks ago. Iā€™ve been impatiently waiting for them to molt ever since! Should have some shiny, slightly larger voids in about 2 years when they finally get around to it! o_O

Rehouses......
20250323_175128.jpg
A lot.....

20250323_175142.jpg
Of....

20250323_175151.jpg
Them.....

All told, 26 holdbacks and growouts were upgraded from the sling racks today (some not pictured):
  • 0.0.13 Phormingochilus sp Akcaya
  • 0.0.4 Ornithoctonus sp Ranong Blue
  • 0.0.5 Phormingochilus pennellhewlettorum
  • 0.0.3 Phormingochilus arboricola
  • 0.0.1 Phormingochilus sp Sabah Red

20250323_175700.jpg
Earlier in the week, I had to upgrade 0.0.3 Ornithoctoninae sp Phan Cay Red, 0.0.4 Ornithoctoninae sp Phan Cay Blue, and a 0.0.1 Omothymus sp Sumatran Tiger from 0.5g to 1g as well. You can see all fresh burrow spoil they've tossed out to feel cozy.

And wait, there's more lol. Still on the books for a rehouse later this week is a MF Phormingochilus sp Akcaya, a MF Avicularia hirschii, a MF Chilobrachys sp South Thailand Blue, and hopefully a MF Aphonopelma sp Dragoons.

After that, I'll probably get a 2 month reprieve, but I'll have 8 Aphonopelma slings needing upgraded off the sling rack sometime soon after they molt next.
