Here is a photo of my Honduran T. albopilosus back from March 11, 2020. It was 2 to 2.5 inches dls. It molted on Feb. 24, 2020.

I used a 50 maybe 100 lumens flashlight. See how the legs have some blue when lit up?

The legs are actually dark chocolate colored.

I assume the flash light since you are using lumens is LED. LEDs throw Blue Light

Yes and no....Yes the high powered lumens light causes a slight color change but it's different than a regular led flashlight.

The flashlights that go by lumens are much higher powered than regular leds. I don't know the exact technical stuff on it though.

Oh....sorry this has no relation to your Ometepe albo at all. I still had my old photos I found that one where I was looking at it and noticed a slight blue hue.

Haha I re-read my last post and yeah....sorry it did come off like it was saying yours only had blue with a light. My wording is bad most of the time. My post had no relation to your Ometepe at all. I just found that photo and was like 'ohhhh that's neat'.

Thx, well aware, I am a bike commuter so I am pretty up to speed on lights. Typically older lights (incandescent) throw yellow light, but it is rare for an incandescent mfr to list the lumens, but it does happen.
Flour's are rarely used, so I was just deducing the blue hue being seen is derived from the light. My P sazmai does the same thing under similar conditions

Well my Cupcake moulted as I slept last night and 20220331_074020.jpg
his legs are blue 😊 this pic was took with just my phone, i took it as a screen shot on vid so i could keep the light on rather than upset him with the flash as he is in his burrow hopefully he will keep the blue this time 🤞🤞🤞 updates to follow in a week or so once he is out n about 😉

Well it's been 4 days my boy has ventured out for the second time since his moult and 20220404_172716(0).jpg
No blue not even a hint of blue, I will post again if he ever keeps the blue but I am not very hopeful that will happen. Handsome boy either way though 😁

Update

After several months Cupcake has eventually moulted I have waited 5 weeks before taking these pic as he is always really blue after a moult and this time he has kept some of the blue it's subtle but definitely there I hope as he gets bigger that blue will get more intense.
Pics took at night with a torch n my phone no flash .

As you can see it's like the blue on a sazimai that shows when light hits but not all the time . I will update again next moult so others can see as there still isnt much on these.

Here ya go....

I've got 8 of these, came from Ray's breeding, via The Spider Shop here in the UK.

Never really noticed any blue, until I took these pics yesterday to post here. In my T Room (5 foot LED tube on the ceiling), no additional light. All of the pics were taken on Huawei P30 Pro, automatically, (just point and shoot) no post processing. No flash

To the eye, I have not noticed the blue, only in these pics, so to me it kind of makes it dependent on... light spectrum + viewing device/angle?

That said, there has got to be something to create the blue, so Ill repeat it with a non Ometepe Island individual and see how they compare. I will post the pics up here.

Meanwhile here are the pics taken on 03/04/2024 This individual last moulted a week previous on the 28/03/2024. It has a diagonal leg span of 11-12cm.

Let me know your thoughts.

🙂
