Anyone’s slings getting color yet?
Wondering how these are turning out. Blue or not?
Any updates? Possible new species?
No colour on mine yet. They look brown like any other T albo but they still circa 3cm so not expecting any colour yet. 👍

This was his first moult for his colours coming through he is maybe 2.5 inch and a confirmed male you can clearly see the blue coming through, he will be one pretty boy once it comes through properly. I hope this helps 😊

I got mine simply because they were on a stocklist and there was also talk at the same time about whether these really were an island variant or not. And as they were just £5 in the UK, the same as a Nic curly hair, I added one to an order I was making. End of the day, if they turned out to be no different to any other Nic curly hair, a fiver is no loss.
So hopefully mine is genuinely Omitepe Island and will look as good as yours! Still small but growing well.

I think this picture is misleading, I could be wrong. The species only has blue femur according to the people who were selling them. Your basically making the tarantula have a blue tint on everything but the abdomen and carapace.

The first picture you posted is more realistic to me.

I have only turned the colour slightly on the second pic maybe up by 25% but irl he has blue everywhere but his carapace you can see it much better with the naked eye than in pics as I said they honestly don't do him justice he is nearly as blue as my virsi sling which was a total surprise but I do understand where your coming from. The info does say only on the legs but Cupcake is definitely blue everywhere and I assume it will only get stronger in time as this is his first moult with adult colours. 20211003_144734.jpg
This photo is untouched and he is still blue on his abdomen and legs more inky than bright blue but the point being I didn't make him blue he just is 😆

I have my fingers crossed for you ! they are so lovely I would definitely get another in hope of a female if I found them for sale, a beautiful spood and worth the having , he is the best gift I ever got 😊

I finally picked up a sling, maybe 1.5”-2”, I will upload a pic later today if it is still out. I don’t see any blue in it though.

Fingers crossed that means it's a girl, I think the only reason Cupcake has that sort of colour is because he is male just a theory though. Yours may come through on the next moult 🤞

I'm just going to give my opinion on the matter and I'm going to get some backlash, but I think the idea of a blue femur T. albopilosus is a scam to me. Is the locality of Ometepe Island of T. albopilosus true? Probably yes. Is the blue femur a unique feature to that particular locality? Probably not. All the pictures I've seen are just one or two specimens and no one has provided multiple pictures of different specimens of that same locality with the actual blue femurs on them. I think this is not a good idea and it does seem like a way for people to get more money out of a locality.

I can post pictures of T. albopilosus "Nicaragua" and there will be a lot of variations within each unique specimen. So unless I see blue femurs on multiple specimens, I would be highly skeptical.

I agree, this one was a freebie. I hope to let it mature and get some good macro shots to see if there really is a difference.

I've only seen this locality offered once in the UK, and from just one dealer. And as they were the same price as Nicaraguans, I dont really think that it could be described as a scam. If it was, the price would have been bumped up, I would have thought.
So if mine has blue femur great, if not, it's no loss as I only paid £5 for my sling.

SHE turned the saturation up nothing else but the latest pics I haven't touched just left as is, as last time ppl complained when I turned the saturation up. He has no blue at all now he is black very pretty n either way I love him he has a brilliant temperament never blots threat poses or kicks and never refuses food would recommend them to anyone 😊
Been trying to get into with Ray Gabriel atm as he supplied them in the uk & I was hoping he will have pics of the adults as I can only find 1 on the interwebs and it's the one tss used as the profile pic when they sold the slings . Fingers crossed 🤞 I will be successful and get more info on the species to share on here .
