Aww, where’s your kids commentary?
🤣 He was at a friend's house and I've been starving poor Lava all week.

Still a dainty eater, this girl...

You uh, dropped a bit there ....

Update: she did in fact get to that leg later. And based on a quick eyeball of the before and after butt size, that was her cricket for the month 🤣

All done:

Nothing like a nice stretch after a big meal.

...or are we desperately Listening For Cricket 🤔
1000011512.jpg

Either way, the "you forgot a leg" trend continues. 🤣

At risk of over posting... Yes, Lava has definitely outgrown her hide.

She wasn't sure I heard her the first time, about her hide, and the outgrowing thereof. Also, she still loves her invisible footstool.

Also, I swear she is worse than the cats with these eyes. I just fed you like a week ago!

"Hey, Blue, did you know all kinds of cool physics happen when you throw a little webbed-up dirt in your nice full water dish?"
PXL_20231218_093804920.jpg

"Yeah, that's nice, kid. Now can we let the grownups get back to napping in the attic? Thanks."

Lava, what?? Ok that's a whole new derp for you.

You know, I'm honestly not sure I can capture in mere photos the full extent of the derpness here.

Spiders are so weird.

The critters have a bit of a vibe going today:
1000011731.jpg

... Except I think Lava might be Desperately Listening For Cricket. I'll go get some this afternoon girl, I promise I won't let you starve.

Finally had the time to soak milady Lava's last molt. Still growing like a weed! Just... Further apart 🤣
1000011768.jpg

Interesting how much I can see the color change as well, once they're all next to each other in the same lighting.

Lava being incredulous that small crickets are still food now that she knows large crickets exist:

Also clarifying the extent (ha) to which she has outgrown her hide now:

Lava honey, I think you're already gonna get put back on the "tiny mealworms" diet...

Hello Lava fans! I finally got some time to set up her new bin. She's still my first and only terrestrial T, so any advice on making her new home better before she moves in is very welcome 😅

Top view:

Side:

Hide/starter burrow:

Relative size:

It feels like a big upgrade, but she doesn't even have one DLS of headspace anymore -- the small bin is just over 2" deep and she's probably closer to 2.5" DLS now, and that's not even counting the substrate. She has to turn sideways on the wall to stretch.

I'll be waiting a couple days before I rehouse her anyway, to give the substrate in the new bin a chance to dry out at least at the top layer.

Me: This will probably be easier if I take your water dish out of first.
Lava:

Me: There you go. A real hiding place, finally!

Settling in very quickly! Already making friends with the new water dish:
1000012626.jpg
And of course doing some strategic remodeling:
PXL_20240226_071721061.NIGHT.jpg
Complete with refuse piles:

Very happy that she's already acting like she feels reasonably comfortable in her new enclosure. 🥰
