Thanks everyone for comming out to the meeting. It was a good fun. We had a pretty good turn out. Lots of T's and other inverts. Many trades, drawings for free stuff and more. Can't wait for the next one.

SF Bay Area Tarantula Society meeting -September 15th

Hi All,
I wanted to first thank Ken & Georgie for hosting again. They were very gracious for opening up their house again for us to meet. We had another great turn out for our 4th meeting. There was 20+ people and alot of the people that showed up were guests. So I expect some new hobbyist will be born out of our meetings. The food was great. We ordered pizza and everyone brought something to share. The best was a homemade apple pie.
There was more trading of inverts than selling this time, but that was okay with all of us. Ken has some cool tailless whipscorpions of which I went home with a male and a female. Georgie was busy most of the day separating a new batch of mantids, with the help of Kalena. We had a huge free drawing where everyone that hung around won something cool, ranging from Tarantulas, books,T prints or terrariums.I drew first and actually drew my own ticket ang got a nice OK.brown4+".

UPCOMING EVENTS
We are going to have 2 hikes scheduled at Mt. Diablo to search for any local tarantulas. We probably won't be able to take them home, but we will learn how to find them and get to see what the local species looks like.Sept.29th and Oct.6th are the dates set and the hikes begin at 3pm.Please go to our website for more info. This will be a self-coordinated event. So try to hook up with other members by corresponding through the SF BATS website.I'm going to try to be at the Oct 6th hike with my family.
The next meeting is going to be scheduled for January 12th or 19th. We expect a new influx of people and hopefully Ken will host again at his place. We are going to add a couple of different and fun things to the meeting this time. You'll get to hear about that as we confirm with a few people on this.
If anyone wants to help out with any event or meeting, please contact myself or Ken(hook333).
Upscale Reptile is having a show in Sacramento this weekend and Ken the Bug Guy will be there with his wife and alot of different inverts. Stop by and say hi to him.

Remember to spay or nueter your tarantulas and I'll see you soon.

January 2008 SFBATS meeting

Hi All,
I know that it is early to start planning on this meeting, but I wanted to get a jump on it before we get too busy with the holyday season.
I like to do the planning and organizing, but if any one else wants to help me or give ideas please feel free to speak up.Let me know what we can do at this meeting that would be of interest to you and others.
Here are some ideas of mine:

guest speakers on different topics.
breeding demos
free drawings, like last time
handling demos,if we think it would benefit( I heard that Ken wants to hold an OBT or a King Baboon)
a tour of EBV??behind the scenes

Planning for springtime and other events around the year.We can start a new thread for this if you like.

Roaches

As long as your roaches are in a good container and/or have the vasaline around the edges so they can not crawl out I have not problem with them. I have six types of roaches myself. Next meeting is not till January.

Hi Guys,

I just sort of jumped into your thread. I am a local enthusiast and will be attending the Reptile Show this Saturday. I've spoken (pm'd) with Fred and he has said that you guys will be meeting perhaps for lunch. I hope to meet whoever is there. It will be good to find others that share this interest.

See you then hopefully,

--Chris

Hi all,
I'll be posting the SFBATS schedule for next year in a couple of days.I got alot of great feedback and ideas on what everyone wants from our business meeting which was held at the SJ Reptile show.
I'll first email those who contributed for a final lookover, then post it here and also on our website..
Feel free to send me more input and ideas this weekend , so I can summarize the info and get a schedule going.
