thanks for the reference.

how long does the yellowish tinge last, or rather how long before the molt do they spend looking like that?

i totally missed it with my first pede-molt since the pede spends months at a time burrowed.

my other 2 should approach a molt soonish and i think one of them shows some early signs of premolt, but it hasn't reached that stage yet

what do you guys think? @Ratmosphere
does it still have a long way to go or are there early signs to be recognized?

Scolopendra dehaani 'red leg', it used to be much more uniformly brown than this

it has been about a year now, so i am hoping it will molt soon and get rid of the old injuries it came with.

I can’t entirely tell, but it does have a nice thickness to it.

@Taffy this could help a lot of people worried about their pede.

thx, anyway

i have looked at a lot of pictures of pedes in premolt, but so far i have never seen the process in person

and they do seem to change based on the stage of the molt cycle

perhaps i will be able to document the changes during premolt i see with this pede, since it doesn't hide nearly as much as my other one

Do pedes in premolt look different at different ages? My juvenile dehaani had the same coloration pre- and post-molt, BUT had very clear separation of the tergites.

Well, 2 months down the line my pede (pictured above) looks to be in heavy pre-moult, at first it got even more slow and the fleshy laterals seemed to "deflate and spill out", loosing some of the muscle-tone and by now it has started to gain the yellow tinge all over its body-plates:

Now that i have seen the changes mine went through i can see that slight sagging in the Pleura (connects the tergites & sternites) of the centipede of the orgiginal post too. I had not noticed that part in the picture initially.

@Ratmosphere is that something you look for prior to the discolouration when you want to know if one of your pedes is approaching premolt?

Can't wait to find it molted one of these days.

yea, feels great :)
lets hope this helps others who are new to keeping Scolopendra dehaani or other Scolopendra sp. as well.

Thx again for starting this thread @Taffy.
