What are some smaller tarantulas that you have and recommend? I've started my journey of acquiring and maybe down the line breeding dwarf Ts. I have a H formosus (...large? too small to tell, seller was unsure too), D. pentaloris, and C elegans. And in the future I want to get Ts from the genuses (geni? someone lmk) Dolichothele, Cyriocosmus, and various other small species like Avicularia minatrix and Idiothele mira. How do you feel about the smaller guys?

Let me quote myself from another thread.
My dwarf species at the moment, most of them are juvenile/subadult:

- Catumiri argentinense
- Cyriocosmus elegans
- Cyriocosmus leetzi
- Cyriocosmus perezmilesi
- Cyriocosmus ritae
- Hapalopus formosus
- Heterothele gabonensis
- Kochiana brunnipes
- Neischnocolus sp. Panama
- Pseudhapalopus sp. blue

There's a couple more on the wishlist, eg. Homoeomma chilensis or Crypsidromus sp. "black emilia".
I've got a H. chilense since then, as well as Guyruita cerrado and some more Cyriocosmus spp. I would recommend most of these, except Kochiana brunnipes - her enclosure is a lovely jar of dirt. Idiothele mira is also an excellent choice, a very unique tarantula (and in my case definitely more visible than K. brunnipes).
BTW, genus -> genera.

I've had D. pentaloris, N. incei in the past and both were great. Both webbed well which was cool and good eaters. I've now got 2 D. diamantinensis slings, just got them the other day and they are webbing up their sling cups well and they are fast! Also got 2 sling H. sp. Colombia Large and they are cool as they have adult markings as slings.

I've only owned Hapalopus sp. Colombia and N. incei, and absolutely adore both.

Dwarfs I keep currently:
-H. Formosus large
-N. Incei
-D. Diamentinensis
-C. Leetzi
-C. Sellatus
-H. Longipes
-H. sp. Dominican Republic

I really love the top four in that list, all super fun, active spiders. The C. sellatus has been hiding a fair bit, and the Holothele have been very shy and secretive, but they are still very small slings, so that may change when they get bigger. I would highly recommend N. Incei and D. Diamentinensis. Cyriocosmus are adorable, but some are out and about more than others. Also I have a jumping spider sling, which has been super adorable and fun to raise.

everything i see this i feel the juices of envy overcome me. Oh the privilege many of you back then when they were available and not the size of a grain of rice.

i have a K brunnipes. It is indeed a tub of dirt. Her burrow is along the enclosure glass so I can see it a bit. But the beauty of this spider is hidden away. It is also in pre-molt right now, so all the joy of feeding responses has eloped.

D. pentaloris, you can’t go wrong. There are a few varieties of Davus available that have awesome colors. I will be getting more.

i will be getting a Dolichothele diamantinensis when i can afford such a splurge. They have a unique trait, they lack urticating setae. (*EDIT*, i need to precise that they are not the only NW tarantulas without urticating setae. I used unique but i really meant to convey that they are special/different then most NW). And heavy webbers. Whats not to love?! Unless you hate blue.

i love all tarantula sizes and find those that stay under 4 inches to be great acquisitions. They do not require big enclosures! And usualy, have great feeding displays.

Mature females were $60 all day long. A lot of us have regrets...

i regret not having regrets… 60$ a mature female… sigh. I can only dream of a new tarantula being found that has similar POSSIBLE traits. Right now, i would need +200$ CAD (that is alot of money in inflation times in my currency) for a 1/6” sling. Sure, i could buy it. But yeah… I am not ready for the risk just yet.

i will accept donations from anyone bored with their Hot Chilly 😇

I typed A paloma in google and the first thing that popped up was this:

I am definitely going to research this more. Thanks.

When I have an extra 250$ lying around for a 1/16" sling you bet I'm getting one of these.
Completely unrelated but does anyone happen to have $250 lying around 😆

Dwarfs I keep currently:

I love my C. elegans. They're around 1" rn and are almost always out. Good eaters, impressive bulldozing skills, beautiful coloration. 10/10 would recommend.

Instead of species? you are right and that was embarassing. Sometimes it goes too fast in my mind. I feel the weight of the seven sisters shaming me.

i wanted to get Aphonopelma bicoloratum, but then was told the possibility of breeding was difficult, and would take forever to mature. A 1/6 sling is 75$ cad for me. No palomas in sight at the moment.
No I mean the plural of genus is genera, OP asked someone to tell them the word :)

But yeah, I still love it and would recommend. Sometimes sites will have sales on them.

All specimens of that genus cost me 25$
