Why you can`t say for sure?

pokies are notoriously hard to sex, im not so sure i would say 100% male just yet.
Females - white stripe
Males - black stripe

Or maybe the black stripe will turn white? or what?
Pls explain everything...
I have saw that males of ornata mare more green than mine...and the two white stripes are not so white like mine...
What i should do?
Thanks!

But in this world is a female with the median line black and look like the pictures above?!?
For what to wait?
This thing is like you wait for a moult and hope a 30 cm theraphosa moult in a 15 usambara!

In my case, 5 rufilatas all with black stripes and up to now, three are confirmed females. A friend (Adnan) believes the dimorfism is not about the stripe but its overall look. In this picture taken by him it´s very easy to see.

Female and the male below, both are about 9cm in this picture

It´s really hard to tell. I don´t know if this theory is true for ornatas as well. I would guess female, but it´s just a guess. Sexing is only 100% acurate through spermatechae and epiandreous fusillae and I don´t think they are easy to see on a 9cm Pokie except for the eyes of an experienced T keeper, which is not my case. Anyway, when buying a T from a distance your supplier should be known as realiable and honest before you close any deal. Good luck!

I think your pictures is showing P. ornata instead of P. rufilata! The abdominal folio is not a good way sex any Poecilotheria!

But how is that males have specific colors and females don`t? Mine looks preety much like a male... And i doubt that the black line will transform into a white one...

Any ideea? my other blondi, the sister molted and in max 3 hours was back and big and black! not after 7 hours translucid, that meens shes not growing...

Hello Martin,

sorry. I don't wanted to say that it doesn't work for all Poecilotheria, I wanted to say that you can't use that method on some of them. Sexing by folio works best at P. regalis in my experience.

Best regards,
Hendrik
