I guess it' s an hanumavilasumica, Hendrik ? Did you found it in the very south of Sri Lanka ? Do you have any pictures of the ventral face ?

Yes as you say BEN, it could be hanumavilasumica too. Those two species are so close...

Hi,

what makes you that sure? ;)

Best regards,
Hendrik
Poecilotheira from Sri Lanka : P. fasciata (Latreille, 1804) - P. ornata Pocock, 1899 - P. pederseni Kirk, 2001 - P. smithi Kirk, 1996 - P. subfusca Pocock, 1895 - P. uniformis Strand, 1913

We can see some yelow under Leg I. So we only steel have fasciata and ornata.

The color of the spider is not the color of ornata, and the drawings is not the one of ornata too... And don't have heard about a new undescrib Poecilotheria

So it must be a fasciata.
But as BEN was telling it can be hanumavilasumica too if this spider have travel from India to Sri-Lanka, on the bridge beetween the two countries.

I've deleted the recent posts debating handling as this isn't the thread for that discussion. We're not going to clog up this picture thread with the that ever-present debate.
