Hi Stefan, nice Pokies room and congrats for the breeding ! Did you mate the female several times or only once ?

I' ve got 3 P. metallica about 6-7cm legspan and one of them doesn' t look like the others at all. She' s mostly grey-black with only a little of blue on the legs I. H. Krehenwinkel told me it may be a grey-form or black-form spiderling.

Here are pics of my classic-blue-form spiderlings :

and here some pics of my grey-black spiderling (just molted) :

All pictures taken at the same time with the same light and with flashlight.

What do you think about it ?

Hi! Ben
Thanks. :)

I have the male with me females 2-3 times just to be sure that they mated completely.

Very nice and intressting P. metallica you have there.
It looks like it might be an grey/black or dark form, It dosn´t shows no signs of sexual dimorphism at this size yet, only when they get an little bigger (diffrent blueish colours, and contrasts) Im looking forward to see more pictures of this little rarity! ;) Please keep me updated.
Concerning dark forms I earlier had an P. striata "dark form". This odd individual comes from an normal batch of slings, as each time it moulted it became darker and darker. Unfortunately it appears to been an male :(

Here some pics of the P. striata "dark form" as juvenile.

Take care..

Hi MetalDragon_boy,

not all ornata turn purple when freshly molted (i' ve got a big female that never has been purple at all even when freshly molted). But you' re right, some "classic form" come out with some purple just after molting.
Nevertheless, there is another characterisitc in the "purple form" that Phalagorn showed us : they' ve got a much larger spot underside the femur of legs IV. My "purple specimen" has this characteristic that my others ornata have not.

Hi Bearo,

you' re talking about my metallica or my ornata ?
I don' t know the sex of the metallica, i bought it in Hamm with two classic metallica. H. Krehenwinkel sold them to me.
The ornata is a 7cm BL female.
