First P. regalis molt

My 2" P. regalis molted today. I didn't get any pics of the actual molting process because I was too busy watching to get the camera. I'm calling her a "she" for wishful thinking because the molt was too mangled for me to tell. Her name is Gunner and she's now about 2 3/4", so she didn't get that much larger with this molt. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures with different lighting. The bottom picture is probably the more accurate color.

Some of my Pokies, which I love! Nothing special like metallica or miranda, but anyways very special to me.

Poecilotheria fasciata adult female (LATREILLE, 1804)

Poecilotheria ornata subadult female POCOCK, 1899

Poecilotheria pederseni juvenile male KIRK, 2001

Moult of P. pederseni juvenile male... no spermathecae but two strange dots wide over the epigastral furrow...

Poecilotheria regalis semi/subadult female POCOCK, 1899

Poecilotheria rufilata juvenile unsexed specimen POCOCK, 1899

And at last, my Pokie background, "the eyes have it..."

I often find those two dots, when i examine, the cast skin under a microscope. I always wondered what they where?

I think what your seeing are the ends of tubules that would feed the sperm to the epigastric furrow. If you shine a light through the area you can usually see the tubes as two amber lines.

Unless you're referring to something else, the Indian Ornamental is a pokie. It's Poecilotheria regalis, and as Poecilotheria is the genus name, all the tarantulas are "related".
