Man, whoever says that isn't an impressive spider is crazy and at least partially blind. Even if they were colorblind, it has magnificent markings! *drool*

Becky,

Your picture is just as good as mine or Johns, just further away :)

I was convinced after the first pic. I do think ArachnoJoost is right though. I would rather have these fall into the hands of experienced breeders/keepers to ensure us that this will become a staple species in the hobby.

After all, who know what lurks out there in the wild? Something may upstage P. metalllica someday.

Well I seen pge's in person, and I must say it is a beautiful spider. Just drop dead gorgeous, and I can't wait to see Patience when she molts. :) Pam

So does anyone know _for sure_ what size are the sexually mature males and females? Oh, and do the males have tibial spurs?

There may have been a couple different sizes imported due to the different females producing offspring (bloodlines if you will). Comparison of size is not a good indicator of sex, with any species.
Poecilotheria is a genus in which males do not possess tibial apophyses.

Here's mine :) :) :) I hope to take some better photos when she's larger. This was just an in-transit one!

I think this is an absolutely exquisite spider, and I am thrilled to tears to own one.

LaRiz,

I'm going to try to sex my slings as best I can plus I'll post pictures. If it appears that one or both are male, I'll keep the temperature down a bit and try not to feed too heavily. I have some experience with pokie slings but not with breeding so if I eventually end up with a mature male, I'll probably try to send it to someone who has a (possibly) mature female. Does that seem like a reasonable plan? Most likely, there won't be an available female, but, as you know, not all male Ts grow faster than females. And by the way, how do you tell when a pokie male is mature?

Papal bulbs on the pedipalps is what you want to look for. I know John has posted some really good pics of these on this board if you search.

stop guys.....
(reaching for parents checkbook)
You guys are tempting me toooo much!!!! I NEED ONE. i am absolutely obsessed with blue tarantulas, especially an arboreal. I NEED ONE, not to be personal or anything but can one of you PM with how much a sling at around 1" would cost? and how much? I make $100 in 4 days at my job, so I might be able to afford them!

Thanks!

I believe that 2 bloodlines came in that "hatched" out about 1 month apart. From what I heard, there may be a third bloodline in a couple of months if everything works out. I wouldn't expect the price to drop any though as that will be the last for a good while if it even does happen.....

Gooty ornamentals rule! see there i go again ...
Great looking t´s for sure!
I still rank a few spiders a bit higher then metallica.
