Pamphobeteus nigricolor adult female 6". I don't know the history on this girl. I don't know if she had a Xmas pattern as a spiderling. Can anybody tell if this is the real P. nigricolor from Colombia (lacks the Xmas pattern as spiderlings) OR is the the Ecuadorian cf. "nigricolor" (has the Xmas pattern as spiderlings)? Thanks!

cf. ‘nigricolor’, if it was the Colombian onebit would still retain some of the pink coloration in premolt and it would still have red setae on its abdomen.

Pamphobeteus is such an awesome species. All of them are on my wish list.

I can’t be sure from the picture but it almost looks like I can see the bottom of that enclosure. If that is the case, this species does well with quite a bit of substrate because they are opportunistic burrows. A small hide or a piece of bark tilted would be good too. It is hard to burrow with such large pieces of bark in the T’s way. Just a few suggestions to help make your T more comfortable.

Thank you for your comment! It was a temporary enclosure while we waited for a delivery on some new substrate ☺

I can’t wait for it to grow some more they’re all so lovely

I have been there but the worst out of substrate story involved my cat..

I always have this 10 gallon container of mixed, ready to go substrate. I just used the last of all my stuff and mixed it and had a ready to go for a huge shipment that was coming in the next day. I left the lid off... the next morning I got up and went to the airport to pick up my T’s. Came home and saw some of my substrate had been kicked out. I was so confused until the smell of cat urine came protruding from the tub... I had to trash it all... every single store in my area was out completely. I had a box of 9 adults, and 15 slings that just came in.... I had to pay a ridiculous amount of money for next day shipping.. It sucked.

I have OCD about checking the lids to my spider supplies now. Haha they were all fine but still.

Omg luckily ours wasn’t a horror story like that! Although I wouldn’t put it past my cat if he had the opportunity. We’ve got an extension being built (t room inc) and our cat decided the base was a lovely litter box

I love my cats but man some days I don’t like them. They make up for it in other ways though. :)
